Whats the purpose of multiple catch cans?

One catch can is for the AMS Cold air intake as for the forge catch cans one is for the intake manifold and one is for the turbo intake. As I say, I am new to all this, but this is what has been recommended to me by my tuner, So thoughts and opinions on that may vary.
