i'm just at 4 years of ownership on a brand new 2008 mr, never modded.

my tarmac light has been blinking for over 2 months now. the "AWC needs service" screen just popped up yesterday. went into the dealer and after they called HQ, they offered me $1,300CAN for the pump and labour. i understand it normally goes for $3,500 in canada...which is ridiculous. i told the dealer it wasn't good enough.

the simple fact mitsu is willing to discount means they acknowledge that there's a problem. who here has gotten the part covered successfully? name the dealership as well so it'll help people know where to go. also, if you're car is modded.

anyone in canada get a dealer to cover 100%? is there a direct number to call HQ if the dealer comes back to me with nothing?

There are so many threads on this issue... Mitsu does NOT cover the pump under the powertrain warranty...

-ACD pump is only covered under the 36k mile/3 year warranty
-only one person has come forward and stated they got it covered under PT warranty.

rebuild your ACD pump or have ACD tuning do it for you - thats the cheapest way available -

There is a company from Canada who ofers a rebuild service and rebuild kits for Evo VIII/IX, Ralliart, and Evo X. I found them on eBay. Super helpful. They offer step by step instructional videos and phone support. I paid $215 for the kit and brought it to a local mitsu mechanic who is rebuilding it for me. When he opened it up, it looked like barnacles grew inside. Like it was on a coral reef somewhere. But He had it bead blasted and the threw some POR15 on the body and is currently fabricating testing equipment. Other than fabricating testing equipment, the repair was straightforward yet time consuming.
