Turbo Upgrade on Stock Engine
So I was thinking about upgrading the stock turbo to increase the top end and a little extra hp. I am concerned about what the stock block can handle. I have been looking at the MAP upgrade turbos, probably the EF2. Not sure if I should get the porting.
My car is a DD and I put a lot of miles on it so I need it to be reliable.

Short answer:
Upgrading the stock turbo on stock block is fine.
I have gotten away with close to 480whp and 370wtq (dynojet) in my experiences. There are many turbos to choose from, look for a stock frame turbo that supports 450whp. Ef2 is a good choice as are many others.
So you are in Malibu huh?

I was thinking about getting an E85 tune but I dont have anywhere in town to buy it. I was also considering a meth injection but a lot of people seam to be scared of them. I think it would be fine as long as I ran a fail safe.

I am also thinking that a stage 1 cam upgrade would help. Porting the exhaust manifold might be a good idea too. I would like to increase the top end without hurting spool or the bottom end to much. I like to do auto cross. I do it more for fun so I don't plan to build the car specifically for it.

Kracka did a thorough review of MAP EF series turbos. I would recommend what he recommended which I got - the EF 2.5 and do NOT get the 3" anti-surge inlet. You will notice a lot more top end power and the spool up characteristics are very close to the EF 2.
Oh and port at least the hot side of the turbo. PM Nate at MAP and he'll get you a better price than what's posted on their website.
Just my two cents.
