I think I may have found the answer to my question above:

Yes. Sealing it by pulling it out and coating it with a silicone sealant is a good thing to do. You can also devise or buy a cover (but that will also hold in moisture, so sealing is still important and maybe put some silicate packs in the box before closing it up). Or you can move it inside the trunk, if you're willing to give up the space and do the work.
Just don't leave it sitting there in the OE location without any protection, at least not if you live where they salt the roads in the winter. That's just asking for the need to get a new one, probably about ten minutes after the bumper-to-bumper warranty ends.

Interesting.... I may look into this on mine too. In Michigan we salt the roads like mad.
I wonder if I can do what the other post mentions and just spray it with Motorcycle chain grease? They make it sound like you can seal it without removing it. I'm only at 12,000 miles under warranty and they might throw a fit if I've removed the ACD pump to seal it. Just seems like a good idea before I run into any corrosion problems.

If the corrosion isn't already working its way in through the cracks between the pieces of the pump body, coating it in silicone of some sort would be good. If it's already too late, that may be worse; I'm not sure. When trying to clean up my pump, I used something I hadn't seen before, called CorrosionX: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/COR...130802000058:s Pretty expensive as those sorts of thing go, but it was absolutely fantastic.

Where I live, I don't have a jack or jack stands, so I'm trying to gauge the effort involved to protect the pump. I live in NJ and the car has been through one solid winter, and I'd prefer to try and save myself from spending thousands of dollars on a replacement or repair.
