Needing information on my evo engine please. Urgent

Ok everyone I need some help here. Just got my 03 evolution and on the way home I blew it up. It almost went into flames thank goodness it didn't. I am looking at the 2.3rr AMS engine the complete drop in and go one. Will this engine bolt right up to my 03 and to my turbo? Will I need a tune after this. And any places around central Illinois to get a good tune if so? I'm assuming the turbo is stock. It was only running 8lbs of boost when the engine went. And how do I tell what kind of turbo I have? Any and all help would be appreciated

looks to be stock. do you really want to mount that on your new $18999.95 engine? AMS makes and sells premium products at a premium price, the 2.3rr is a race engine, is that what you want?

I think you are in over your head. You purchased a car that obviously had major issues if it was only running 8 psi. You need to replace everything that oil touches period.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take your car to AMS (chicago) or another evo shop and have them fix it. They can guide you through part selection etc.

The fact that you are considering a $19,000 crate motor to use a stock turbo/intake manifold/intercooler etc etc etc with is kind of scary.

***also you posted in the X forum. Not the VIII/IX

I wanted to chime in on this one to be of some help, but Im kinda confused.
These are the kind of things one would know when considering that kind of motor.
I mean, its a 19k crate motor built for racing.

The advice SDevo13 gave is quite useful
Find a shop that knows the car and the motor and they can help you get what you need for whatever purpose.

But to answer a few questions...
Yes, youll need to tune the motor after installing it into your car
It wont be plug and play
Without the tune, you will most likely blow your new motor
Also, that is the first time Ive ever heard of running a stock turbo with that kind of motor.
The stock turbo can work with that motor though.

Sorry I was clueless on the price of that engine haha I must of been dreaming. The car was going down the highway and it threw a rod through the case I believe it almost burned to the ground I am considering a Jdm engine from eBay but I hear there are uk us and Japan engines the one I'm looking at is imported from Japan. 4g63t is the engine I need correct? I have no idea what was going on with this engine that blew up. I put 93 in it from shell and the next thing I know it's throwing oil and on fire. Would 93 octane cause it to blow if it was tuned for something else? Would you guys recommend one from Japan. Would this cause problems? Thanks for your time guys I am appricative of it I am a mechanic of some sort and my father and uncle are true mechanics we can do the swap but not the tune if you do recommend the Japan engine should I not fire it up until I get it tuned if I use the computer that comes with the engine. Also it comes with a trans my trans has the fifth gear grind not bad but it's there also a third gear when down shifting thought???

Sounds like you got screwed by the person you bought it from. Putting 93 octane in would not blow the motor, more than likely tune related issue that caused the motor to go.
