Shorai Lithium Iron Batteries??

Hello. Has anyone run one of these batteries and if so which one. The car is not driven in the winter and does not have a big sounds system or the factory sub. I will be using the AMS Mini battery tie down. There are several different models weighing between 1.4 lbs and 4 lbs.

Link to EVO X forums with guys running them. No mention of specific model numbers though....

I'm running one on my VIII which was put on this past winter. Car is daily driven and I have had no issues with cold starts or anything. I'd imagine if the car sat for a month or so it might have issues but so far so good for me.

I opted for the largest model they offer which weighs in at around 5lbs and is 540CCA. Its more than twice the CCA of the typical Oddesey small battery and also weights half as much. Sure its more expensive but no way was I going to use a small battery on a daily driven car through the winter. I'm quite pleased with my battery and would certainly recommend it.

Im looking to get toss one of those in to drop another 10lbs off the front of the car, any cold start issues? I know these you really want to keep a trickle charger on them and the right type that shuts off.

A buddy runs one in his 89 civic hatch (ST car) and the only problem he's had is from jumping it. Another guy touched the cables together (IIRC) and it was instantly dead. I'm guessing the Low voltage cutoff was burned up but its not serviceable after that.

Mine made it through a few months of this past winter up here in Mass with no issues whatsoever. The car is garaged however she fired right up after sitting in my work parking lot a few times where temps were in the teens.

Nice, that's good to know. Im still finishing up my home-build CNC and I will make an ultra light battery mount for one to replace my ETS small battery kit. Hoping even from the ETS kit, theres 12-15lbs to lose still.

Are you using a PC680 today? I just hacked up the original plastic battery tray and called it a day. I didnt see the need to spend $100 on a new tray although I did buy a cool battery tie down strap off of ebay, you know bc racecar

This one right here: http://shoraipower.com/lfx36l3-bs12-p130

LFX36L3-BS12 or LFX36A3-BS12 depending on which side you wants the terminals to be on.

Lithium batteries are used in nearly every device require high energy, when was the last time your lap top blew up? Most Lithium fires usually happen with Li-Po batteries in the RC world and only if miss charged or damaged. The car batteries usually of the Lithium iron variety and more stable. The only real concern with them is if they fully discharge which should be protected by a low voltage cut-off or connected backwards.

^ This. The panasonic just died and this seems like the best option for price:weight ratio. I have the Rockford system and DD my car in Alabama weather. Is this a good option? Also, what small battery kit do you guys recommend if any? Thanks in advance.

That's the one I'd like to put in my Evo X. Instead of spending $60 on an aftermatket battery bracket, shouldn't I be able to mount the battery flat on its side with the OEM tie down and a set of j hooks with longer thread like these ones? Please correct me if I'm wrong/missing something.

Btw, for a garage parked car that's only driven once every week or so, will there be any issues?
