Stock Frame Turbo - upgrade options

Just bought an Evo X and I was wondering what is the stock frame turbo everyone is using nowadays. I'd like to send mine in to get built.

After researching FP's website it seems the Red Black and Green turbo's are all discontinued and they only offer a 71HTA now on their website. Is this what everyone is using? I would like to make between 400+whp with bolt ons, e85 and a tune. What will yield over 400hp?

Is anyone using BBK turbo's anymore? Suggestions/thoughts/comments/concerns.

I'm in the market for an X now and have been researching this so I figured I would chime in. I think FP is having a hard time finding cores, they will still build you a green/red/black if you send in your stock turbo.

If you are going E85 and only want 400+whp there are plenty of options:
MHI 18K(you can buy through FP)
FP 71HTA as you noted
MAP EF2.5
MAP EF3
CBRD BBX Lite/Full
ATP GTX3071
ATP GTX3076

I'm sure there are more, but these will all easily hit 400whp on E85, some over 500whp. I'm planning on going with the MHI 18k as it has great response and can make 400whp on 93 with the right supporting modifications.

Good luck!

Hmm really? I didn't realize that they would still do the build. In that case I think my best option is the FP Black !!

You don't need a FP Black to get you 400+whp on E85, a green will do that just fine. I've seen Reds do over 500whp with E85 and supporting mods on a X. The only downside about FP is you have to do the upgrade and that means sendin your turbo to them and it'll be down for how ever long it takes for them to complete the upgrade. A BBX Full will also get you over the 400whp mark. The MAP EF2.5 is a solid choice as well and quite frankly not crazy expensive.

FP Black is overkill, you would need to go with a built bottom end to actually support the torque it can produce. I guess you could run the black at low boost, but it just wont be nearly as fun to drive on the street as a green/EF2.5/MHI. Looks like you already have a GT-R for big power, keep the Evo X street-able and responsive!

Im running a stock replacement 3576R. Spools comparable to the less expensive journal bearing turbos and gives plenty of headroom to grow with.

I'm running an MHI 18k. Spool is very close to stock. Maybe only a few hundred rpm off. Pulled 400whp on Dyno Dynamics.

I'm running stock frame turbo that was sent off by topspeed in atl. It made 420. Suppose to equal FP green. They were a little disappointed in results. Was hoping more for 450. It's on 25lbs
