I got quoted 2200 for the flywheel, bearings, pressure plate, clutch disc and fluids.. 2200! Most expensive clutch job Ive ever seen.

Did they give any in depth reason as to the problem?

Somehow I let the clutch get too hot and it literally welded itself onto the flywheel for ****s sake.

This is why you stop when there is a problem. Just like I said, you made it look worse by driving it.

IMO, get it towed to a nearby Evo shop. You'll save some cash, and be able to put a better aftermarket clutch in.

Going to see what mitsubishi can do for me, last resort is I get it towed to a shop that has worked on evos and let them go to work.

Something doesn't add up here. I know the car was new when you bought it but any idea how many miles were on it when you took delivery?

Unfortunately, you probably won't get all the parts and work quoted by the dealership done for much less elsewhere. Clutch jobs are expensive for the X

Definitely sucks man, I would at least have an Evo shop give their opinion on it and see if they have a dealership they work with who is willing to go to bat for you.

that means you burned the **** of it.

in this s case i suggest get an exedy twin. comes with a whole assembly. Takes the beating preatty well. Dont go back to stock one, neither stronger single. Because you might damage something else then a clutch itself.

You can kill a clutch with a lot less improper driving. Nothing new here.
Either way it was a driver mistake. Burned the clutch too much or drive a faulty clutch too long.

Just wanted to quote some of these awesome goodies above.

You abused the clutch, it's pretty obvious. They don't just go out. Every month a thread like this pops up.

Unfortunately you chose an expensive car to learn how to drive a clutch.

There are tons of people with stock clutches still even with +100whp/wtq. I am one of them and I track the car too. Drive the car correctly and they last.

Exactly. We just pulled a perfect stock clutch out of my friends 2014 Evo X, upgrading for moar powa. It has 25k miles on it, been on E85 at 380whp/355wtq since 10k miles, clutch looked brand new. There aren't even hot spots on the flywheel...

But I didnt learn on this car, its not my first rodeo. Something had to be faulty, which casued the pressure plate and clutch to be getting way to hot. It went from slipping to dead in 45 minutes of highway driving. Thats not my error. Kind of funny how you can point fingers at me but if something like that happened to one of you, you would know it wasnt you because clearly you talk like you "know how to drive" and I do not.
