shifter rattling
So I've noticed that I have an annoying *** rattling sound when I'm in 5th gear, it only happens when I'm in 5th. 2011 evo gsr btw, completely stock with 37k. Could it be the bushings needing to be changed? Any help would be appreciated. It's getting more annoying by the day

I think I'm just gonna get the twm cage with bushings and short shifter. I'm going that will fix my issue, plus I've been wanting to change it for a while anyways

Not sure if you've fixed this or not, but I also have this same issue and it definitely drives me nuts. 2008 GSR, only 5th gear, typically highway cruising speeds. Used to happen when I had the stock shifter / bushings as well, but then I could push on it slightly (like put it 'more into 5th') and that would take care of it until I hit a bump or sth like that.
Thought it might go away if I switched to a Works short shifter and upgraded console / underhood bushings w/ AMS gate selector, but no, still does it, and what's worse is that there's less play in the shifter, so it's harder to push the shifter in any direction (while in 5th, just pushing side to side / front back barely) and have it stay. I will say the car shifts like a dream now tho![Wink](https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I found a thread where Kracka said that it was sth like a loose fitting in the shifter cage or a little too much play in the cable itself, and his recommendation (I think) was to put a half twist in the cable as it connects to the shifter -- not so much that it couldn't shift anymore, but just enough to take out that extra slack. Since it's a bit of a hassle to pull out the console to remedy, I've just lived with it -- and since I apparently am the only one who notices it (wife doesn't hear it), I'll wait to fix it at some later date, I guess.

I have the same issue. I have a short shifter, changed out the bushings, and put the twist in the cable line and still have the problem.
I did all this back in 2009. I don't want to keep putting more tension on the cables so I haven't continued the twisting.
I think I read a few years back that someone just zip tied the cable to prevent them from bouncing on each other.
