Turbo upgrade with stock block

hey guys I know their is plenty of threads regarding turbo upgrades on stock block I would just like to know what would be the best turbo for staying with the stock block and cams? I am 4k above elevation and the reason for not doing cams is their is not any shops I trust to do cam work on my car. Goal would be 450 on e85. Thanks in advance

Mostly will be doing an e tune unless I decide to make 5 hour trip to the colorado springs area. Was thinking MHI 18K but don't know if i will still be left wanting more?

in my experience the best thing to do is try and find someone with the setup you are looking for and go for a ride. There are alot of other things to consider when choosing a turbo aside from peak HP numbers. The intended purpose of the car as well as the kind of driving you do will also have great bearing on what the correct turbo is to achieve your goals. For the street though i would definitely go for spool / response over peak HP. I think a turbo that would peak out between 450-500 on e85 is probably the biggest you would want for an enjoyable / semi reliable DD.

Thanks the car is used as a DD from time to time but the plan is to have a good street car won't really be doing any racing at the drag strip. I was able to drive a gsr with an MHI and it was amazing how good it pulls, everyone just tells me to go with an EFR turbo. Just don't know if its worth the money without cams and having to replace the downpipe and intake.

Don't have to replace the intake, the CBRD kit works with all intakes.

You can sell your existing DP to recoup the cost of going with an EFR kit. Lots of people do it this way, it's definitely worth it

MHI18k is the best stock frame choice.

I will look into that CBRD kit! What made you decide to go with the 7163 instead of the 7670? If I decide to stick stock frame I will definiletly be doing MHI 18k with an exhaust manifold!!

If you can find a CBRD bbx full, those are good options too. I made 500 at the boost creep on one with cams and corn. I was going to go with the mhi, but got a crazy deal on the CBRD.

Also, I just want to clarify, are you looking for 450 corrected, or uncorrected whp? I'm up in denver if you need any local help man!

I've heard mixed reviews of all the big shops like tobz and Carz. Lots of people have good stuff to say about them, and also the negative. Also, MAC autosport.

I had my cams put in by chet when he built my motor.

MAC has the only local DJ dyno that I personally know of, not saying that there isn't others, but 450 uncorrected is close to 560 corrected. That's REALLY pushing it on a mhi, if it could even get there. I'm running 32 psi, and a fair bit of timing of timing on corn to make what I did, and that is as far as I would push my built motor with my particular turbo.

If that's your goal, I'd go with the efr kits.

A gtx35r should do it too, but I've heard that they don't do well at altitude when cams are involved.

28* of timing is past MBT. I hope you meant 18*...

To be 100% honest, I'll have to get back to you on this. Lol. I'll pull a log and see what I'm reaching up top. You very well could be correct, and I missheard something. I'll report back this evening with my results. Lol
