Evo sounds like a Subaru under boost?

Hey guys, so my Evo started doing this weird thing last week. It drives fine under normal driving but I've noticed even I start making boost, at about 15 psi it starts making a bad rumbling noise from the exhaust , the car shakes, it doesn't feel like it's boosting and I was told it was making black smoke.
I thought maybe it was bad gas. I had filled up on my way back from outta town at a Valero in a small town . 91 Oct. So I emptied the gas tank and filled up at a road ranger 92 Oct (top tier gas btw) reset the ecu on my Cobb. And the problem went away. I did a Lotta pulls and it drove fine.

Well last night it started doing the same thing. I notice too that when it acts up my wideband reads 13. Under normal WOT I read about 11.8 - 12 afr. My boost gauge reads that it's hitting 26 psi. Anyone ever have this issue before ? Idk where to start looking tbh. Thanks

Sounds like a misfire. What do your plugs look like.

Piston dome usually turns black pretty normal for a internal combustion engine.

Have you ever changed the plugs since you bought the car?

The plugs look like they came from a 60-70's car rotting away in some field!

Those definitely need changing!

Yea! I changed them back at 40,000 miles. I'm at 72k right now. I think the rust is from when I cleaned my engine bay.

Looks like water got into ALL of the plug wells.

Jesus I've pulled field cars out that have been sitting for a decade and the plugs looked better than that. Glad you got your issue solved.
