I bought a IX because to me it is the last true Evolution

A passionate fan of various elements of geek culture (e.g. sci-fi, comics, Star Wars, video games, anime, hobbits, Magic: the Gathering, etc.), but who lets his passion override social graces.
Do you go out of your way to talk down on the X? If not then you are not classified as a Evo 8/9 Fanboy. When I say "Us X Guys" I'm talking about the guys who like what the car looks like and looks forward to seeing what it can do. Is that such a bad thing?
What does Evo X have to do with geek culture?
Anyway, if you are talking about X guys, sign me up

I just bought a TB IX GSR because I've been working with 4g63s for many years now, and in my opinion, the IXs powerplant is the pinacle of the tried and true 4g63 engine. I basically didnt want to buy a used one so I jumped on a new IX. Will I regret not waiting for a X?...maybe, but I can always trade the IX in for a X, cant do it the other way around.

I hope you are being sarcastic, if not then as GPTourer mentioned above, 4G63 wasn't exclusive to Mitsubishi cars nor Lancer Evolution. Whats even better is that the first application of 4G63 engine wasn't for a Mitsubishi car but for a 1984 Dodge Colt, then it was also used in Eagle Talon, Plymouth Laser, and as GP mentioned, Hyundai Sonata. And yet none of that diminished the fact that Mitsubishi was able to evolve the 4G63 engine into being one of the most capable/durable engines in the world.

People bringing up bull**** and downing it, just goes to show that they are not sure about their purchase about the 9 and they have to make themselves feel better.
It is already sad enough when people do STi vs EVO FANBOY Wars, but when you get EVO fanboiz for a certain model that is straight retarded
It is so true though that if the X is better it is as simple as trading it in but if it isn't you can't reverse it =)
I like your thinking.
IT hasn't even came out yet so give the X a chance and it won't be long till we find out

well umm... I have a 9... i like the 10, and am positive it will be great... but lets face it, it looks just like a fuggin' audi. plus, all of you sayin the wings are gay on the 8/9?? You act like the X wing is nonexsistent. You also say the 8/9 looks like it should be owned by a 16 year old?? umm... its simplicity is what seperates it from the other cars... the X is a 4 door RSX/AUDI that looks like something my 55 year old uncle would haul his kids around in....
but ill probably end up getting on, haha.
this thread sucks.

This stuff is annoying. Some of you need to maintain a nice firm grip on reality. And that is, that auto companies are always going to make something newer, faster, and better. I love my VIII to death and I don't regret buying it one bit. I also do not regret NOT waiting for the IX to come out. So then the future Evo X owners are gonna be *****ed at for not waiting until the XI came out. Get over it, enjoy your car, appreciate future and past Evos, and STFU. kthx.

I'm going to buy a Evo X because it's better than the IX. While I whip that 2 door SS camaro, your car too will be behind me. The look of the X is more refined and doesn't look like a car that if you're over 16 years old - you're too old to be driving it. The interior of a Evo X is straight out of a 9,000 dollar car except for the cool racing seats you see young kids put in their Civics along with the fart cans. Oh let's not forget about the wing on the Evo 8/9. It is the stupidest thing they could ever put on a car and how many of you truly ever drive your car the 100+mph on a AWD car that it takes to make a difference. I also love the posts from people who ask if their Evo 8/9 is going to be considered a classic in X amount of years - HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET?
In ending - this whole post is a joke. I love everything about the Evo. But us X guys are getting really tired of you fan boi's going out of your way to dog the X to make yourself feel better about buying an 8/9. Yes your car is sweet and will still be sweet after the X comes out - relax!

i agree with everything you said but actually I'm speed demon and I break the 150 mph mark at least once a week, and I break 100 mph almost everytime I drive the car. I love to drive fast on wide desolate roads so whenever I get a chance I take flight in the evo. Having taken it up to 165 numerous times on the stock turbo, the car feels so great at high speeds. And this is only with hotchkis springs...
back n topic, the evo 10 may not be liked by many but its the theory of evolution. The car will sell, the car will be modded and people will figure out things to do with them. Yea i'm not crazy where the turbo is mounted, or the 6spd auto, or the aluminum block but I'm sure parts will come out, maybe we'll need to sleeve it to go real fast but thats not THAT big of a deal, hondas have been doing it for years.

The Evo X IS a true Evolution....in many respects!
All new and refined body style. (It's not going to suite everyone, but nothing ever does.)
New lighter engine (Who says it won't be as good? Did you test it? Heck, for as much info as you have, it could very easily be BETTER!)
New AWD system.....plus many more enhancements!
How can you NOT say it's an Evolution?????? Would you really be happy with the IX for the next 10 years....I didn't think so. I am glad they are trying to improve on an already awesome platform.
Here's to the X
