Eh,
Disappointing, seeing how the previous model would be #1 on that list easily and ran circles around the Charger SRT8 when a shoutout was done between the two (forgot which mag did that) with Evo IX edging out the Charger in both 0-60 by a second & lap times. Now the Charger could pertty much whoop this cars *** coming off the line with the X's only hope being accelleration between 40-80mph and it's superior handling.
I'm still holding out SOME hope with reviews @ this point still being positive and no good tests being done on a US SST model but at this point there's still some worry on this thing. :l

good AWD does however help the car to go fast when it comes to handling in the twisties.
Stock power level is not really a function of engine design, but more of how the car is tuned. Of course engine design dictates how much power can be extracted from it. Perhaps Mitsu undertuned the vehicle, or its underrated, well see when it becomes available, Last time i checked, thats how tuners got their start

What you wrote has nothing to do with the article. The suspension design of the X doesn't help to make it any faster in a straight line. Although you do make valid points about the handling prowess of the X, that's not what the article is about

He's right. Mitsu could have designed the 4B11T with more power to compensate for the weight gain. Fact is, that they didn't and it was a poor choice.

For your second point, I chose the wrong word when I said "design"...you're right about tuning the engine to get a desired power level. I'm not exactly sure why Mitsu didn't tune the engine for a little more power to make it even with the IX in straightline performance. Heck, if they would have done that I don't think there would be a single hater against the X. Oh well, they didn't and we are getting the car we are getting I think we can all agree it's a poor choice by Mitsu to not tune the engine for a little more power from the factory. We shouldn't have to "tune" or "mod" the X just to make it as fast as it's older stock siblings...

I pretty much made this decision on buying my next car: it will be AWD.
Since Evo is the only one on the list with AWD they made my decision for me!!!
(but i went with a used IX)

For your first point about AWD handling in the twisties. That would be relevant if this thread was about handling. It's not. It's about straightline performance. Also, AWD (regardless of how advanced) is not always better than RWD. Twisty road or road course. It's not always better. Chassis, suspension geometry, suspension/steering setup and alignment all play more of a role than AWD. And, more-so than any of those things, tires make the most difference in handling.
Aside from that, I wouldn't want anything less when dealing with the snow
