So, X-Haters---->X-Lovers
#46
At the price point, weight, and power of the X, there are alot of nice cars in the competition. Not a hater, but the EVO was once a giant killer at an econo price. By changing the car and thus the target audience, it seems they have brought a knife like name in prestige (Mitsu) to a gun type fight (BMW, etc.) The EVO evolves (compare 1st model 8's to last model 8's, then the 9 - woohoo )Best of luck to them, hopefully 2010-11 will bring a better X.

I went to the dealer to see the 2 that they had and I noticed that the trunk is significantly smaller. The rear seats feel cushier and softer, other than that the interior looks like a EVO ,spartan.
The extra 331lbs translate in the form of worst gas mileage 16-22 vs the Evo 9 18-24(I think).
The sound system is crap (in my opinion), not worth the extra money for that "650w system).
My .2c

Lets see, heavier, slower, more expensive, more complex electronics, unproven new aluminum open deck engine..... looks are ok IMO, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'm going to say I still think it's a giant step backward, and pretty much a disgrace to the Evolution name. Had they called it somthing else, w/e. Don't drag the name of a car with such a rich heritage in the dirt. Oh well, it's not like this would be the first time for somting like this from Mitsubishi (read: Mitsubishi Eclipse). Take a hardcore awesome performing enthusiast's car, and try to "fix" it and make it appeal to the masses, all while effectively castrating the car, and making it an uninspiring turd.
If you like it, cool, have fun, good luck. I will stick with the tried and true 4G63 engine. The engine in REAL Evolutions. When it comes time for me to pick up an Evo, it will definetly be a second or third hand VIII or IX.
