First CEL (Updates from dealer visit today)

I through a CEL tonight after about 550 miles on the X. I really haven't run the car hard because of the break in period.

I noticed the idle jumping aroung from 500-1K rpm when I would restart the car warm the other day. It even stalled a couple of times after about 5-10 seconds of running when the idle was jumping around. I'm not sure what's up but I'll probably have to wait until Monday to find out.

Has anyone experienced this erratic idle? Maybe it's just a bad tank of gas.

Bump for X owners.

When you take it to the dealer, can you have them tell you what the code is? I'd be curious to see what the CEL actually was.

How many miles on the car? How long does it last? At what rpm after the coldstart does it start jumping? When does it act like it wants to stall?

Can you not just run by a parts store and have it pulled? Could be something simple like a gas cap.

Advanced Autoparts, Autozone and other chain part stores can pull the codes and print them out for you for FREE!!!!!! takes only a couple of minutes.

I have 700 mile on my car now. It does'nt last that long maybe 10 sec or so,
I only notice it at stop lights because that about the only main time im sitting on idle for a long time. The car idel from from 1k to 500 in that range mainly. When it sits
it idle at 500, and when the spike happen it jump up to 1k, and drop back down, sometime droping a bit lower then 500, and that is when the car feel like it wants to die. I live in a cold climite in the pass 3 week, our warmest day is like 30 degree.
we been sitting at around below zero for most part.

I believe what you are seeing is the cold start condition when the car first starts up. All cars run in a cold start when the ignition is first turned on, but the new X seems to be slower coming out of this condition when the car is already warm. However, I havent had any stalling or rough running per se, but I have witnessed the rapid RPM movements.

I wonder if that can be tuned out. Or if it's the IACV.

So the rpms don't gradually come down smoothly then as the car warms up?

The car does taper down like any other car. It just takes alot longer then my VIII to warm up.
The rapid rpm jumping, happen on Warm Start (think that how you would say it)
Like if you turn off the car for 5mins to get gas. When you start up the car and just sit there, this is when the rpm does the rapid jumping, so i dont think this only happen on cold starts. Even after driving for 30 mins on the highways, soon as you have a chance to stop at the stop light, you will see this happen.
This is what's happening to me, I wonder if the outside cold air has anything to do with it.
