EVO X at the strip.

well I observed a Evo X GSR go 14.1 at 98 tonight at LVMS.
This is about what the Evo 9's are doing stock here in town at our elevation.
(3000 asl at LVMS)
My 03 Evo 8 ran a best of 13.8 at 97 when completely stock.
I wanted to ask if I could drive the car so I could get the title of first evo X GSR in the states in the 13's(well at least on evoM)
Seriously gentlemen, our track in vegas as many know is definately a slow track.. everyone that races here is trapping slightly lower than most places.(other than maybe Utah or arizona)
I really do see a stock X in the 12's at a good track on the right day with good driver.

stock evo x in 12s

Yeah, I mean what's 1.5 seconds on a drag strip.... only 15 car lengths... a good driver can make all of that time up. Not.

A few mods and this thing will stick with almost any car at the strip and then really hand them their asses on the track or Auto X.

Cheers,

-Nate

Stock evo 9's here in vegas run low 14 high 13s
stock evos in other parts of the country have been able to run 12's
what can you deduce from that?

I live in vegas too, and I've always noticed a power difference for instance when I go down to San Diego. Our hot, thin, dry air isn't good for power.

God mitsuboost, are you aware of how elevation affects hp? He's saying that at sea level on a nice cool day that the car will run high 12's, low 13's, and that it has in other countries already. The 14 second runs were at 5000 + ft above sea level. Take your car up to bandamere dragstrip in colorado and your "12 second evo" will run a 15 @ 6500 ft above sea level. I'll give you a quick lesson. The closer to sea level you are, the denser the oxygen content is in the air. The more oxygen there is in the air charge, the more fuel the computer tells the injectors to spit into the combustion chamber and the more efficiently the fuel burns. Oxygen+fuel = power, and the more you have of both the better. Also, turbocharged cars have to be tuned to run higher wastegate duty cycles to produce the same level of boost as a car at sea level. At 5000+ feet above sea level, your evo 9 will produce about 2 psi less boost than at sea level. So between the boost loss and thinner air, you lose a ton of power. Just to give you an idea, my sti made, before being corrected to simulate sea level hp, 40 less hp on the dyno when I lived in Colorado than when I moved back to Atlanta. Both dyno's were the same type as well, Dyno Dynamics. So I hope this explains why the evo x ran so much slower in vegas, and why YOUR EVO 9 would as well. You have a lot to learn...

Ok, the mods must have deleted the post of mitsuboost that I was responding to. If anyone was wondering, he was saying that the people who ran 14's in evos at vegas were all bad drivers and that elevation has nothing to do with 1/4 mile times. Above is my response.

ya a good driver in a stock 9 last night would have ran around 13.7
the car was trapping 98-99 thats good enough for a 13.7 with around a 1.6ish 60'
Its pretty cold last night (42*) so the DA was most likely 2500-3000.
No real humidity doesnt help any,
I love driveng to see friends in so. cal. and feeling like I picked up 20hp

we have a few very very good drivers here. and a few very bad.
Im somewhere in the middle in drag. but im never above a 1.8 60' pretty consistent 1.7 in the evo.
Dan Bajalis is known to do 1.5 on all seasons
Most all evos here are running low 12's/high11's all while 105* and a DA of 4500+...
