3 days with my new X
on my third day with the new car, just thought i would share my impresions.
first i dont know why some folks have a problem with test drives, my local mitsu dealer had 7 evo x's and they sat on the lot for 2 weeks before anyone even asked about them. i pulled up in my 05 evo and walked over to the new cars. before i even spoke i was told to go on a test drive. after MUCH haggling i bought their blue car and bought the wife an 08 tribeca. i really thought the STI was better but coulod not afford the extra 8k dollars.
now my thoughts on my new evo. first off yes it is patheticly GUTLESS. and yes to me a 14sec car is slow. but this will be fixed in time. I LOVE the fact that it is quiet, god never intended for 4cyl cars to be heard.
the inside has alot more room, and the fit and finish is way better than my 05
the trans is pretty sticky going inot 2nd when its cold, no big deal.
the clutch is a joke, one 5k launch and i smelled burned clutch for 2 days. this needs fixed ASAP.
CRUISE CRUISE CRUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my rear facing child seat now fits like it is supposed to!
the trunk is useless!!! the sub and battery took what little room there was.
driving the car is a dream, so smooth, so quiet, worlds better than the old evo. if only it had about 75 more HP.
the final thing is that i HATE linear power bands. i want to feel a turbo come on and it should be violent. this car is just the oposite.
that being said i am happy so far, and enjoy the more refined car. hopefully soon i will have more power and be able to feel the turbo kick in. and best of all, at least my wife can now drive my car as you can tell i think it is tons better than the car it replaces.

break in? right like they get break in during PDI. whatever, it is not a race clutch. your average stock clutch requires about 20 -30 smooth start from stops i covered that one. the motor does not require a break in, thats an old myth.
and i know for a fact these cars get POUNDED on during PDI.

So I take it the rear seats don't fold down?
I'm glad to read that a rear facing seat fits better. I had to put mine in the middle with my son. It was the only way to make it fit in the Evo VIII and IX.
