Not impressed Evo X experience

(This does get pretty funny so if you have patiences read through)

So last thursday after being called million times to come and check out the Evo X I finally get some time after work to go. I get there and the salesman that harrased me for a week is flippin MIA WTF. Anyways I made it over to Coconut Creek Mitsubishi tonight after being called a million more times by them to come and check out the Evo X.

My first visit when the guy wasnt there I really liked the look (in person) of the X so I was dying to drive it. So I got there tonight and met the guy and he brings me up to the garage to see all the X's they have. (Side note: if you are looking for a X they have ALOT of them they are going to be getting 30 this year and have about 10-12 in stock right now in every color)

So we got in the Wicked White X, and take it for a spin and right off the bat I am completely not impressed with it. Where is the spool up???? I dont feel the turbo what-so-ever! It just has a slow pull all the way through and even at that its not quick at all. Dont get me wrong I like the inside which is a HUGE step up from the current IX, I like the outside but still not crazy about the rear tails (Lexus 350 much...). And WTF is up with the PLASTIC wing???!!! That is completely ridiculous for a $35K+ car! The trans flatout feels like crap and instead if the typical notchy feel it almost feels like it is completely not going in gear and that the shifter is going to break off.

Bottom line is my IX in pure stock form would spank the living crap out of this thing!

So anyway here is the funny $hit they try to pull with me tonight. They ask me how much I am looking for to trade my IX and get in the X, I tell them $29K, and they say "well we couldnt even sell if for that much so we will give you $23K tops", (Laughing to myself begins), then they proceed to tell me that they dont keep IX's as trade-ins since they dont have anywhere to park them, (More BS since they have a 3 level parking garage), and since they cant park the car anywhere all the parts will be stolen or the whole car will be stolen.

Next they say "well do you like the car, what are you thinking of doing", I told them that it is ridiculously slow and that was a huge deciding factor for me since there are other things I dont like about it. I think this was almost the funniest thing they said> The GM says "well the mechanics said that the car isnt set to full horse power right now, if you were to buy the car and break it in and bring it back when you hit 1K miles they will do a reset on it which will unleash ALOT more horsepower" I laughed a little bit at them from all the BS that they were trying to feed me and just played it off since I was texting someone in my phone while he was talking. ..

Then they say that since they dont keep the IX's that they are going to just wholesale my car if I decide to trade it in, I almost died laughing at them. I said "You mean to tell me that your going to give me $25K then turn around and put a $31K retail on a IX MR and rather then try to sell it, wholesale it out and take less than $23K!?, when you guys are ready to be serious call me and talk numbers not BS"

Get real Coconut Creek Mitsubishi, these guys are the biggest jokesters I have EVERY dealt with while looking at a new car.

I hope you found this as entertaining as I did, the IX is here to stay unless I drive one with the "unleashed" extra horsepower that changes my mind.

You say 29K because you know you are not going to get it. They are going to low ball you anyway, so you might as well let them know that you want alot for it. I worked at a dealership (not mitsubishi), and we never used to spoon-feed people b.s. like that. That is nuts. I was at a Lincoln dealership and we still never even pulled things like what they did with you. Funny stuff though...seriously.

A local dealer tried to tell me my '05 TB VIII SSL with 31k miles was only worth 18k, I argued for hours and got it up to 21k.

They turned around and are now selling it for 29k.

No I dont expect $29K for my MR from a dealership but it isnt totally out of line, for a dealership to give me $29K yes but if I was selling private $29K is not out of the question. I simply said $29K to the dealer to see how bad they were going to try and kick me in the nuts. They werent laughing at anything because I let them run my credit and they saw that I can buy it out right and still keep the IX and get a sick payment, so playing hardball just like they try to F everyone else is what I did.

Exactly my point even if they gave me $29K for mine they would still be aqble to sell it for $31K, we all know someone somewhere would spend the $ to get it.

I went to the dealer to look at the X for the first time yesterday. Didn't get a chance to drive it, but just sitting in it, it feels like a cheap POS, and hardly justifies the significant price jump from the IX to the current model. No 4G63, questionable styling, cheap interior, ect. is not worth the money they are asking for them.

There isn't a significant price jump. An 06 Evo IX stickered for ~35k while an X with SSS stickers for ~35k. Where's the jump?

Cheap interior? Are you serious? I'm not saying that it's a lexus, but it's a huge step up from the 8 and 9. Plus, what are you complaining about?, you drive a talon. Cheap interior... you're funny man.
