IIRC, the residual value is based on MSRP, so if MSRP is $40K and residual is 50%, it's $20K....but say you negotiate the price down to $35K, you pay the difference between the $30K and $20K, the residual doesn't become $17.5K

Using the numbers provided by ShahulX, here's approximately what your lease payment will be:

(assumes paying MSRP for a base Evo Xand factoring in $1000 in lease costs like acquisition fee, title fees, etc)

No down payment (you really shouldn't put anything down a lease, but if you did the payment would go down)

24 months, 15k miles per year
MSRP: $33,640
Adjusted Cap Cost: $34,640 (includes $1000 for fees)
Residual Value: $22,875 (68% of MSRP)
Money Factor: .00254
Payment: $636.30 (does not include sales taxes which vary by state)

At that lease rate, you're probably better off buying.

Same assumptions as the post above, just for the 36 month lease

36 months, 15k miles per year
MSRP: $33,640
Adjusted Cap Cost: $34,640 (includes $1000 for fees)
Residual Value: $19,175 (57% of MSRP)
Money Factor: .00254
Payment: $566.27 (does not include sales taxes which vary by state)

This payment is better, but still probably not good enough to lease vs. buy.

those numbers are accurate I gave (money factors and residuals)... im glad someone else did it so nobody thinks I was trying to rip anyone off...

What other dealer willingly comes on here and gives buy-rates and residuals

Mitsubishi should be doing a lease program for this bad boy to boost their sales. Not to mention there will be more Mitsubishi around to give the image down the road (given the image is positive).

yea, their base money factor is right (fyi Honda is at .00235) not much of a differance.... special rates are key.... like on the S2000 I can do .00035 (thats .84% ).... which is NOTHING

wonder if they will do a 1 pay lease....? where you pay all payments upfront and get like 2% for the lease term...? I'll have to ask next time i see a rep

I hear u should put nothing down, roll taxes and fees into the lease, if it gets totaled or stolen you r out your taxes and deposit.

Shahul, do you have accurate numbers for 12k mile lease? as it looks now, buying is slightly better than leasing. no real incentives at this point huh? maybe when MR's get released? no reason why it should cost more to lease an evo over something like a 335i, etc.... makes absolutely no sense whatsoever....

I figured I would just crunch the numbers. I figured they were legit. This way guys could get an idea of how much a lease would cost.

I think it's a good move by Mitsu to finally offer a lease on the Evo. Now, if they could just work on getting a better money factor
