Timing belt question Not for evo BTW

a good friend of mine has a 2g talon. and was doing a head gasket installation. asked me about it because we have simillar engines. well he didnt set the engine to TDC before he took the head off. but while the head was off he rotated the cank to TDC so...

Head coming off of car = not tdc

Bottom end = TDC

well I think he put the head on while the bottom end was at TDC but not the head.....luckily he saw this before he went further and got everything in time. But

my question is do you think he could've bent a valve by even just setting the head on there and torquing the head studs down if he did it when it before the head was set to tdc???. I'm thinking he could've. also he might could've bent it while he was rotating the cam gears trying to get the cam gear timing marks to match up....just getting ya'lls opinions

sorry if this is kinda a confusing post...its just this guy kinda always looks to me for help and I wasnt around when he did this, so I'm just going by what he's saying. would like to be able to help him though

also whats the symptoms of a bent valve??? just a meatal clinging, and total loss of compression???

A symptom of a bent valve is down compression in the cylinder, feeling of misfire, engine shake .. etc.
