Rexpeed has a hybrid design. Looks like a piece that gets positioned over the existing A-pillar. Not a big fan of the CF but you could paint it to match the A-Pillar I suppose.

This is an old thread. AMI Customs has offered their A-pillar for quite some time now (2 or 3 gauge). It isn't cheap since it is a factory A-pillar with fiberglass done by hand. I haven't installed mine yet.

I think Rexspeed is working on a dual-pod that basically sticks over the stock pillar.

Hate to dig it up, but I had a question. I haven't found an answer any where so Im going to ask here. Has anyone had the pillar (the one posted above this post) covering the air bag and actually had the air bag go off? If so what was the result? I'm kind of skeptical about putting one over it, due to not knowing how it might come off in the event that the airbag deploys

I have the DSG dual pod pillar that will be offically released in the next week or so. It's a 100% oem replacement. Meaning it comes with the "hook" that is behind the pillar, connecting it to the A Frame incase of the airbags going off. So in other words, if the bags go off the pillar isnt going to come flying at you.

Looks really nice

Think it was supposed to be around a few hundred bucks, if I remember the speculations correctly.

There was a big thread about it over at the other forum.

They have it listed for $209.99

Or you can go with Rexpeed http://www.rexpeed.net/new2007/produ...php?serial=223 for a lot cheaper $69.00

The A pillar pod shown above is not the same one that AMI customs sells.

same as your oem pillar. The DSG pillar has the hook behind just like your oem. So in the event your airbags go off, the pillar will just drop down and the hook will grab it just like your oem pillar.
