Besides the distance your hand travels, not too much...BUT - one of the benefits of the paddle shifter in a car is that you can keep your hands on the wheel at all times. Having stationary paddles kind of defeats that purpose. Who knows, maybe they aren't stationary...are the paddle shifters in the gts stationary?

most editors in magazines prefer the paddles stationary on the column. if they are attached to the wheel, when turning it is easy to get mixed up on which paddle is + or -., since they are always rotating with the wheel and changing postions. having them fixed to the column means no confusion....and good shifting practice has you shifting before you enter a turn anyway....

notice that more "serious" sports cars / sedans have stationary paddles, like Ferrari, the gt-r, g37, evo, while other "pretenders" like the acura tsx , audis,and lexus IS have them rotating with the wheel

Plus if the early test are correct, if you are driving fast you should let the computer shift for you.
