A little confusing, but you get the idea the auctions are forecasting very little depreciation for the IX's going out one year.

run flats are expensive and heavy!!! evo's hold their value to a point... a couple of bolt ons and the evo is faster than the 135i (probably close to the cost difference). awd>rwd.
do you have kids or are you planning on having kids? if yes to either go for the evo.
i DD my evo year around 2 sets of tires and i love it.
My thought on the 135i is it is a great sunshine car or second car. you have to have a daily driver to go along with it, but i live in ohio we have 4 seasons of weather (two if you only count winter and construction) the bmw in my opinion is only good for about 60% of the year in my area. this is my opinion and that is all.

Yea but not many people are in the market for a used EVO, it's a big gamble. You're trusting how someone took car of a car that's made for one thing, to be fast.
Ill have to sleep on it, the EVO is amazing but the BMW is more of a complete car. There's no arguing that.
I love evos, 3 of my friends drive them, but you can not sit there and tell me truthfully that the EVO is as well rounded as the BMW.
I personally could care less about interior comfort, give me an engine and milk crate to sit on and im happy, but others do. I have to put my self in a position where im not going to be down and out in a few years.
I know if I get the EVO ill mod it, and good luck trying to sell that. Plus the EVO is somewhat of a niche car. You have to want one to buy one.
Whereas the Beemer is just that, a BMW, and there's a certain prestige and build quality that goes along with the name. I hate badges, to me, if it's a good car it's a good car, whether the front says Lambo or Daewoo.
But as much as I hate it, I have to live with the fact the others DO car about insignia on the grill.
I would LOVE to get an EVO, ive been saving for one for a long time, but now that its time to make a 35k investment it might not be all about what I want, but rather what will be best for me all things considered

You sound ridiculously indecisive about this. This "investment" needs to slept on a bit longer I think. I know that when I see a BMW, its just that, a BMW. There as plentiful as civics are where I am. Especially since its not going to be an "M" why does this "status" aspect torment your soul soo much? I'm definitely not trying to talk down, call out or anything of that sort. I just think you sound like you really need to invest some more time thinking about it.

If you go to a bimmer forum then they will tell you to get the 135i. Here we will tell you to get the X cuz most of us here drives Evos. So if you visit bimmer forum more than you visit us here, the get the 135i cuz thats probably where your heart is at. LOLZ

This sounds like the same trade off many folks here made. For me, after i narrowed it down to the BMW (3 series for me) and the Evo, i asked myself "what do i NEED this car for?" not "what do I WANT this car for." The second question already got me down to these two cars. I needed the car to get myself back and forth to work and to carry other people during my turn at the carpool and to get around town during all days of the year (rain, sun, and snow). After i really looked at what the majority function of the car would be, the BMW wasnt even a choice. It was all just luxury and fluff, no reality based substance.
Reminds me a lot of the Subi forums...
