Hood will not open...

Like the title says I am having a little problemo with the hood not opening. When I pull the hood release on the inside of the car I feel resistance, and it really doesn't go anywhere.

Any info or advise, feel free to chime in. Really don't feel like going to the dealer...

I just had the exact same problem last night when I went to open my hood. I'd pull on the latch and it would feel as if there was resistance to the point where the plastic would snap.

Here's what I did to finally open it: on the front of your hood along the rubber seal line (hood side), keep pushing down across that entire area and especially where the actual latch is. It's possibly the hood is pulling up against the latch making it feel as if it won't open. It'll feel like there's still a little resistance, but it will pop open.

I'm not sure about the X, but the VIII's and IX's had small round rubber stoppers that could adjust the height of the hood. All you did was just turn them. Check to see if this helps on the X.

Have someone else push down on the hood while you pull the lever.

Yea, I'll give it a shot. Already broke the handle on the inside of the car, pulled too hard. No biggie. I just hate having to take the car to the dealer!

I tried having someone push down on the hood, and it did not work out. I am going to try it again, and if not, the front bumper is coming off, and I'll start messing around with the actual latch.

+1, probably because it's so new. The seals aren't broken in yet, so they are fighting the latch.

Ended up at the dealer b/c nothing was working. They ordered a handle and cable that runs from the handle to the latch. Waiting for a call so I can go in...

Great advise man, that worked like a charm for me. My hood was under too much upward tension by those hood stoppers and after I screwed them in one full turn my hood opens much more like it should now. Thanks again. Anyone else that is having this problem just screw in the rubber stoppers one full turn and porblem solved. Oh and grease your hood latch and mechanism. It'll prevent rust and keep things lubricated. Good luck guys.
