I feel bad for the future MR owners that don't have a clutch.

Does slipping the clutch shorten its life or damage it?
and why didnt mitsu just give the engine enough torque under 3K rpm to go up hills?

It's not Mitsu' fault. It's all driver error.

It is fine, seriously. My K20z1 RSX type S had more trouble going up hills than this even if the X has no turbo lol. Some people try to climb a hill with five people in the car starting at idle 900 rpm lol...fawk that...you gonna choke a jeep like that even.

Yeah there is a steep inclince here at the local mall, I would say as much as 45 degrees, hate easing the clutch to get up it, especially when I had to stop, and roll back a lil and let it go, but it got up there once engaged. Never had a problem when the car didn't want to go up an incline. Although seeing how mine gets up there I laugh at it everytime were in my friends gto, that torque ****.

All my fathers vehicles clutches that are manual have lasted a very long time(~150k miles) and he rides the **** out of his clutch. He just doesnt abuse it and load it up before it is completely in gear.

Guys, there is no way these inclines are 40 or 45 degrees. Honestly your car couldn't get up them because you'd scrape your nose.

Heck, even Jeeps would scrape. A 2007 Jeep Wrangler has a max approach angle of like 44*.

These inclines are likely no higher than a 10-15* grade, if that. If you've evern driven in the mountains, steep passes are like 6,7, or 8* (and kill truck brakes).

+1^^ you would not even be able to walk up a 30- 45 degree angle you can't even pour concrete at that angle unless its sprayed and no one will spray a parking lot.im still in shock that you made your friends get out cause you didn't want to slip your clutch once WOW.(still shaking my head)

Evo is kinda weak on hills, but what I'm coming from I'd expect that. I'm newer to awd so it was a bit of a learning curve for me, on all shifting levels. To get perfection that is. I'm gonna agree with all this 45 degree non-sense. Now I know male estimates are always a little high, but 40+ degrees? Must be the same crowd that think a 747 takes off at 75 degrees. There are plenty of steep hills here in the mountains, but its more an optical illusion on actual degrees.

Picture reference... 36 degrees....

I can't believe this thread. I think Noize has locked threads as silly as this in this forum before. Surprised he hasn't gotten around to this one. If you can't get up a hill/incline in your driveway then you should consider getting an automatic or get some lessons on how to drive a stick. Wow.

Try it, put 5 people in your car, pack your trunk with two bags and try and make it up a hill without feathering your clutch. I bet by the time you get to the top you will be breathing more clutch than air.

I know how to drive a manual car, i have never owned a non manual car. I know I could have feathered the clutch to get up the hill.
