Manifold air pressure (map) is at a vacuum with the throttle plate closed ie idle. all vehicles do it (except diesels cuz they don't have throttle plates). once the plate opens air is available and the vac will rise to zero then pass it into boost (with forced induction cars). so what you are experiencing is completely normal. + you might think about changing your power supply to something different such as a dedicated power wire due to the possibility of causing blown fuses, not to mention the possibility that if you plugged into some sort of computer power supply for fear of frying up a body computer or some other integral component. Don't mean to scare you but i work at a dealership and i have seen numerous external telephones, satellite radios, or other "extras" that have tapped into computer power supplies and certain power spikes can cost you $$$$$$$$. Just saying its not but 10 min to run a dedicated 12v power straight from the battery through the same spot that you ran the tube. Thats it i done. Hit me up if you need more info.

Thank you. You should rotate it clock wise a bit, so that it is center.

I understand what you are saying, but remember the X battery is in the trunk, so running the dedicated 12V supply is not as simple as running alongside the tube for the gauge.

I haven't had time to look, but there is probably a 12V supply distribution block in the front of the car that comes straight from the battery and is safe to tap into.

The reason it is -20..... it's called vacuum vs boost. Like the poster above said... engines suck before they are blown. When they are idling it is pulling air in because none is being forced in with turbo. Once the turbo starts to spin up and pressurize the system, your boost goes up. Hope this helps.

Check your hose. It might just be pinched somewhere, especially if you are using an Autometer guage with those small plastic hose. I experienced the same thing on my car before, boost was reading 10psi, when in fact it was actually running at 15psi.
