Painting the tail lights
Has anyone done this yet? (painting the red plastic molding, not the entire light fixture) This needs to be done IMO to separate the X from the base lancer. Options im thinking of include black, gray, or color-matching (blue for me). Hell you could even do carbon fiber if you had the knowledge.
I took one of the lights out and looked it over. They appear to be 3 pieces, a red plastic molding, the clear plastic covering, and the actual light reflectors. It looks like the lights are clipped into the red molding, and the clear plastic is just glued on top.
I know on most cars it is possible to disassemble the tail lights by removing them, and placing them in a 250 degree oven for 3-5 minutes. This is supposed to heat up the glue enough so that it can be removed. once you are finished painting you are supposedly able to re-heat the glue up, and just press the tail light back together.
My concerns: i'm afraid the lights will end up with moisture in them, or accidentally char my lights.

I already tried this. Snapped off a piece of the housing in the process. They might be melted together, but from what I saw the edge where they connect isn't accessible. The front lens is sunken into the rear housing, so you cannot get a flathead or anything in between to pry them apart. I too am waiting on Ralliart tails...
