I think Mitsubishi wanted the X MR version to be the "luxury" edition of the Evo.

Something most people don't notice is that the plastic center on the front bumper of the GSR is black/grey and the MR is silver.

Oh and the obvious....the red "MR" badge on the back

Trust me you don't want any color matched vents. I've seen white, rallye red and black MRs and the paint looks so cheap. The white looks like someone used liquid paper on it. The only color that looks good on the MR so far is the black. In reality our MR is just a GSR with options, as there is nothing worthy of the MR name in Japan.

To me the only reason to get an MR would be for the SST, leather, and possibly the 2-piece front rotors (although i think most will find it more economical to go with solid rotors when it comes time to replace them, but i haven't priced them yet so i don't know for sure). as stated, the painted side vents look like an afterthought rattle can job, the chrome trim is ugly and doesn't look right on an evo, the suspension is softer, and the rest of the MR package is just a laundry list of options and accessories also available for the GSR if you want them. i wish they offered the GSR with SST and leather. that's really the only reason i want an MR, and it's hard to justify the price knowing I'll likely swap out all the other things later. i'm not normally a fan of leather, but the MR interior looks SWEET and is MILES above that of the GSR. the side vents i think have to be the ugliest thing about the MR though. it looks like they were sitting around going "how can we make this expensive *** car look different than its cheaper sibling? hey Joe, grab that can of rustoleum out of my toolbox...i have an idea!" reminds me of something you'd see on that lame "unique whips" show on speed channel (forgot how to misspell "unique" for the most street cred...sorry Will).

Red or not, they are probably(?) not as stiff as the GSR, and DEFINITELY need to be replaced to get rid of the off-road ride height anyway (unless you use it off-road of course) so I don't count them as a desirable option.

+1

That's probably why they come like that everywhere but North America, where the marketing team got hold of the packaging and decided they were going to up-sell all TC-SST equipped cars as something special. Well, I mean they ARE something special, but not because they have a cool e-brake handle is my point.

The only thing I will miss about the MR taht I cannot have is the 6th gear for highway travel. the GSR with a 6speed would be serious competition for the MR.

I may also buy the leather seat covers for the recaros from a Mitsu wholesaler when availible.

The 6th gear really does lower the engine noise level when just cruising home on the Hwy.....very helpful after a 10 hrs work day......

Also the MR is faster around the road course then that of a GSR...........which is what it is intended for.
