Royal Purple

I am getting Royal Purple put in on Sat, I was just wondering who with a X, has done this, and is it an improvement. I read that it adds about 9 hp, in I think it was Import Tuner. Also, my option is just Royal Purple at the crankcase, or full all around, with BG Synchro Shift added. Any thoughts, thanks in advance!!

RP was the cause of 2 blown engines I'm aware of. It's great oil for NA vehicles but after about a thousand miles on turbo'd vehicles it's time for the oil to be changed.

I wouldn't use it either. I use Redline oils although Amsoil isn't bad either.

To echo what some of the others have said, RP seems fine for NA applications but I did not like it at all on my VIII, broke down way too fast.

Mobil 1 well proven. Amsoil is good as well.

Wow I had no idea the oil was bad for turbo engines. It's great on NA I love it. I guess I won't make the switch at 10k miles after all.

Millions of dollars was spent creating and formulating the latest Mobil1 and it's recommended and put in the car from the factory. Lots of high end sports cars recommend it. And you can get it for a good price. It's kind of a no brainer..

This is the article that I first read about the tests done with Royal Purple in the Evo X.
The original article is featured in Dsport magazine, May issue I believe....

For the guys who knew the individuals that had blown engines, what weight was being used when using Royal Purple?

Just wanting to know because the Skyline community for the most part use Royal Purple 15W 50.
