I'm hoping 60k can get you closer to a new m3 rather than the 335. Am I wrong?

unfortunately in Canada we still pay a ****ty markup compared to the US dollar. It apparently costs Mitsubishi Canada $10,000 to ship them across the boarder hah.

Wrong. They start at $71K but once you leave the lot the options, etc will add up to over $80K in Canada. Gotta love the 'Canada' tax.

I'm looking at buying an MR myself within the next year (waiting for my lease to end on my current car) and have checked the dealers around Montreal. All the dealers seem to be quoting 47k as the price for a base MR and 51k for a premium. There are a lot sitting on lots so I think we'll see some aggressive pricing in the next few months.

I've also considered buying from the states. I have a US based company and address and I regularly import vehicles. With the new laws regarding bumpers and such I can bring in an Evo without the ugly Canadian bumper.

The prices in the states look to be about 10K less than here in Canada. For a car that I'm probably going to void my warranty on anyway I might as well keep that extra 10K.

You guys know that Southcoast Mitsubishi is willing to sell to Canadians. They said if you have the money they will take it. That's where I plan on going.

Yeah, I think the warranty thing is the only thing holding me back from getting one from the US.

Ya, but for me, it's like I said, if I need 15k in warranty work this isn't the car I want anyway.

Has it actually been confirmed that you can import a new X? Or even a used X? I know the standards were harmonized, but I don't know of any individual cases where it has happened.

It is confirmed, it is on the RIV list as admissable, hence confirmed. However, I have not heard of anyone doing it yet.

I suppose as long as the warranty is still valid in the US, I can pop across to Seattle to get warranty work done. Saving $10K would be worth it for the better bumper and a couple of weekends in Seattle.

Has it been confirmed with other Canadian dealers that they won't honor US vehicle warranties? Subaru has the same "official" policy, but my local dealership has no problem with my American Legacy

In Winnipeg, dealership here won't honor the US warranty.
They even purchased a used one from the states and brought it over, jacked up the price (4k miles used, SSS package, springs cut ) for 38k while new warrantied is going for 43k

I was approved for the used one, but i can't bare to own a car with no warranty when the previous owner cut the springs. Even if it was a dealership/show car. Don't know what else could be wrong (even if CARFAX says it's ok), so I stayed away.

I would imagine that 2009 models will have the same bumper as US models since the law change is now official. IMO if you live near the border it would be a no-brainer to save $10K.

I think Mitsubishi thought that since the EVO VIII & IX weren't available in Canada that people would be willing to ante up $$$ for the X but that hasn't been the case as they are finding out that Canadians aren't as stupid as they thought and don't care to pay artificially inflated prices.

I was

Nothing over MSRP, but still a massively inflated price from the US price point. However, I didn't know that 4 weeks later, they would change the bumper laws.

Dammit.

From what ive heard US dealerships wont honor the warranty if you export it to Canada, but that could all depend on which dealership your dealing with.
