Stutter?

Alright,

So, I have been reading quite a bit of threads and people are complaining about stutter. Can someone explain to me what this stutter is, when it kicks in, how it is affecting performance, etc... Im kind of curious to know more about this so if someone can shed some light I would really appreciate it. Thanks all.

Im mostly asking cause as soon as I get back from Iraq, I plan on buying a X. Some of these threads about the stutter, clutch needing replacement after 350lbs tq, and the lemon law guy who apparently likes to rev his evo too much getting all sorts of CEL's, I might just look for another IX if you know what I mean.

Why are you trying to get rid of the IX in the first place? The X is a great car, but it does have a few bugs. Nothing I would consider a large enough factor to not purchase one.

As for the stutter, it only applied to early model X's. A simple dealer reflash or an air filter would fix the problem. You won't have any issues with the stutter. Especially if you wait for an 09.

The stutter situation is because the car runs really rich. I think that at around 5000rpm the car hesitate . Thats it. Most people that have it has seem to of fixed the problem by adding a intake and exhaust it leans it out a little bit. Clutch, well it all depends on how you drive it. Droping the clutch will not help destroying it. 350 tq will also kill a clutch on the IX. Lemon law guy. Well have yet to rev my motor to past 5k several times for no reason and will not try to find out. Just my .02

I didnt want to get rid of my IX, but since I was deployed to Iraq, I wasnt going to be driving it so I got rid of it and Boom! no more payments for me Bad move on my part really, but thats insurance and payments that I just saved up to buy a new one when I get back. Im just glad that i got what I payed for it even though it was over a year old with over 30k miles on it.

I see. So it's already gone. That makes sense to me. I all honesty, I would just wait for the 09 X. I'm sure it'll be here in a few months or so.

I might do just do that. Do you know of anymore "weaknesses" that the X has that will hopefully be fixed on the 09's?

We all know Mitsu paint isn't good. It hasn't been good on any generation of Evo's. If you didn't like the paint, you wouldn't of bought a IX.

The clutches were weak on the VIII's and IX's as well. So no news there again...

What you are talking about are VERY MINOR issues. They cause almost 0 effect of the drivability of the car. You know how forums get....everything gets blown out of proportion. One little thing goes wrong and it has everyone wonder "How could Mitsu do that?"

It's quite comical actually how many threads on this board are actually worthless. Anyway, I don't think there is anything at all to be concerned with the X. Just take a look at how many people are having an absolute blast with them!

Agreed. I have had many different cars... RX-7, MR2, WRX. The EVO X is more fun than any of them and also practical if you have kids .
