EVO FQ300 Vs AMS Modified EVO X **MAGAZINE TEST**

What happens when an EVO X FQ300 butts heads with an Mildly modified AMS equipped EVO X?

Andrew Mercer of Momentum Motor sports decided he would like to find out. Andrew bought every AMS part available at the time and threw it on his Japanese spec EVO X RS. The boys at Performance Tuner magazine in the UK wanted to see how this mildly modified EVO X fared against the factory FQ300 EVO X. Read below to find out who was king of the hill at the end of the day.

A special thanks to Andrew Mercer of Momentum Motorsports for conducting this test and showing the world what good a few AMS parts and some tuning can do.

Eric

I was hoping they had comparison quarter mile numbers but I can only imagine a 14 sec car versus a low-mid 12's or better car, feels like night and day!

The guy that wrote the article sounds like an evo 6 fanboy that has probably hated every evo since. He prefers his evos cheap, simple, and raw and doesn't have any respect for the car being nicer and more refined than past evos. He didn't really comment on the car's strong points, like how it handles better than any evo of past and has about the best chassis that an evo has ever had. So what if it's a little slower in a straight line? It handles better, and that's what an evo is supposed to be all about.

My feeling exactly, the writer seems to believe that evo's should only come w/a driver seat and a cage from the factory.

Not everybody wants to drive a full on race car every day. He said it himself "he's too old"

People need to realize this car is called the "Evolution" if it stayed the same all the time.....it would be kind of silly wouldn't it?

Interesting perspective... but on thing about this article really bugs me: how do you get “a horrible, acrid cloud of clutch smoke” from a TC-SST sealed wet clutch? Something isn’t quite right with this! We already have higher hp X MRs that are not doing this... by his description, his magazine car has some sort of mechanical issue. He probably should have said that!

The JDM RS now that's sweet!

That guy was mad biased. You can't write a review like that about this car.

all evo's of the past have AYC then S-AYC except USDM. So, really you will not notice much of a difference in handling from all these imported evo's.
