Evo X or Supra MKiV RZ 1993 JDM import
I just realized that I could either spend 42k + tax in Canada on a brand new Evo X GSR or get a Supra MKiV RZ 1993 JDM import for about 24k after all taxes and shipping and stuff... I was looking for opinions... Should I get a brand new relatively reliable Evo or my childhood dream car that could also end up being a money pit...? We already have a reliable daily driver so this one would be mostly a weekend toy.
Hummm decisions decisions...
Although I'm not sure the JDM Supra would be easy to insure and to finance.

I prefer the R33 and R34, but they will not be legal to import in Canada for awhile because of the 15 years rule. and they're talking about extending it to 25 yrs!!
I recently had a ride in the new GT-R R35 and it's just amazing!! There's simply no word to describe the acceleration and handling that car has.. anyway... that's out of topic.
Plus, I like the nice rounded lines the supra has and compared to the R32, the supra wins my heart!

Right hand drive is cute for a minute, but after that you'll hate it. I'd go skyline if you imported a RHD car just because the ostentatious nature of it's aura will kind of make up for the fact that you'll be looking over your left shoulder when you back up. It gets old.

Trust me, that car is all engine...there is nothing else remarkable about it.
Get the Evo for ****'s sake.

Acutally, the Supra doesn't sound like a bad deal. Have you seen the retail price on used Supra's these days with low to average miles? It's almost atrocious. If you can get the Supra w/ low miles and insurance in order...I may seriously consider the Supra. Car could acutally end up being an investment considering these cars appreciate in value.

Not saying it's the one I'm gonna buy, but just to give you an example of what condition the car could be in even if it's 15 years old. I'm sure this one will sell fast as it's mint, but I may make a move on something similar latter on.
For now, still waiting on an insurance quote. It's freakin' hard to find a company that will insure RHD cars, at least in Quebec...
At least the bank is willing to finance such a project at 7,98% compared to 5,8 for the Evo through Mitsu finance.
