Best quarter mile...
Alright, for the best time in quarter mile on my GSR Evo X, at what RPM range should each shift happen? I thought at about 5500 RPM from 1-3 and then 3-5 at about 7000 RPM?
Suggestions very welcome...

For stock, I actually found shifting at 6,500 provided a higher mph. The torque curve on a stock car drops off quick once the rpm's go up.
So I would try anything between 6,500 and 7,000. Try both and see what works for you. Maybe it's a combo or inbetween at 6,800 which yields the best results.
However, 5,500 I would say is too low. No reason to shift that low.
One more thing, never shift into 5th. Just ride 4th out no matter what rpm!

That is the big thing steinvb12, I didn't ride out 4th long enough. I'll give 6,500 and 7,000 a go.
Also if it says that the max torque is at 4,000 rpm; shouldn't the shifting be done so the next gear falls in the 4,000 rpm range? I don't really understand the whole: Max Torque: 4000 RPM Max - Horsepower 6500 RPM on the stock Evo X Spec Sheet.

Yes, be sure to turn off ASC (hold the button down for like 5 seconds). It dampens the throttle and makes it so you can not launch. ASC also applies the brakes to your wheel if you break traction.

If you have excessive wheelspin problems off the line then just the single touch of the ASC button "may" yield better short times which turns off the power cut (almost always evil) but leaves on the brake assist (can be good sometimes). You can test both and see what works best, if you can turn it all off and modulate the power well for limited wheelspin that will yield the best times.

Deannn you are correct about those times, but I am shooting for realistic timing, I know I do not have the shifting patterns for the Evolution X down pat so I figured a more reasonable time and then improve from there.
Also today I tried a clean start on a recently paved new road in the morning, I pressed the ASC button and had a fairly good start, however I will try completely turning off the ASC (holding for 5 sec.) and giving that a go.

The BEST drivers can manage those times, yes. However, most of us are unable to reach those times.
If you are new to drag racing, expect a 14.2-14.5. If you have some experience, then 14.0. If you are a good driver, 13.7-13.8. If you are a really good driver with a bunch of experience, then a 13.5 is possible.
Set your goal realistically....people forget to realize, alot to drag racing is the driver!! And I'll be the first to admit, I am not the best. So I just adjust my expectations realistically. And as I get better, I can expect more.
