Quality of the evo x, really worth it?

Hey guys, new to the forum.

Well here’s the deal. I was planning on picking up an evo today after the sales rep got back to me with a good price and the 0% for 5 years.

But i am still a bit weary. I mean for a 35k car, i feel that some things have been cut short.

The seats fall apart.
gas pedal
oil leaks
other leaks.
idle problems
toe angles cause uneven tire wear

I mean i fell in love with the car the moment i saw it and test drove it. But I don’t want to act on impulse and just buy something and overlook the problems. I mean everything is fixable for the most part, and these are isolated cases. But i just think for a 35k car, there shouldn’t be any. So i guess my question is, what do you guys think? Is it really worth to buy the car and just have the few problems fixed. I mean i really love the car, but i just don’t want to make a stupid decision.

thanks for any input

I have had ZERO issues with my MR so far. I'm pretty sure that with the GSR as long as u have both factory reflashes, you shouldnt have the idle issue either. I have no regrets so far.

Those are very rare cases. I wouldnt worry about it.

Also, everyone says for a 35k car there shouldnt be any problems. Well 35k for a car isnt that much, and much more expensive cars have more/bigger problems.

for one, almost everyone you ask here will already own the car, so they would say yes, go for the evo x.

i havnt experienced any of the problems you listed but i do have a hood latch problem.

Don't buy it. Go buy a Honda Civic instead so I don't have to see anymore threads like this.

Try spending 45k+ on a 335i and having the engine blow due to no oil cooler...

Or 50k+ on a 335i convertible and having the top totally fall apart/collapse while you were closing it, requiring an entire new top assembly to be shipped in from Germany -- and it being impossible to get on right (because there's a special jig at the factory to get it in the right place, and installing by hand doesn't work).

While $35k is a lot of money, IMO, the major things we're seeing (too rich, seats separating are the only things that are widespread), are very minor compared to the issues I have seen and had in other cars.

The gas pedal and oil leak seem fairly isolated. The toe issue is something you see across the board from all manufacturers (anyone owned a G35 Coupe or 350z?).

If you like the car and want to afford it, then go for it!

thanks for the help guys. Seeing this will be my first NEW car, I just wasn’t really sure what to expect. I know all cars have issues, just not to what extent.

And to mr bonus.....If you don’t have anything constructive to say, why even waste everyone’s time? I am grateful for those who have chosen to help, but you’re just a waste of space. Seriously why bother? if I wanted a honda civic, I would have gotten a civic. If you’re tired of seeing these threads, then stop opening them and more so, stop posting in them. So go take your attitude somewhere else.

The topic is discussed ad nauseum on every automotive forum on the Internet. A random sampling of anecdotes on a forum to judge a car's quality is not constructive nor is it an intelligent way to car shop. The fact is that almost any new car will be as reliable as you keep it. Stay on top of preventative maintenance and be aware of any issues that arise and you'll be treated with a pleasant ownership experience. Delay routine maintenance and ignore warning signs from your car and you'll find something to complain about.

I have a few of the mentioned problems, but warranty is your friend and I tend to forget all those lil hiccups when I'm driving this thing at its potential with a big **** eating grin
Not to mention the possibilities of this car with a few mods

Just remember, nobody ever starts a thread saying, "My new X is running just great and I have no problems!" You only hear about the select few who have issues.

From: MS/SG...now in perth
everyone have their own perception on buying a vehicle
haha
u buy an evo for what
for PASSION
if it were me, i wont care about this type of small problem
but thats just me
everyone is different
but i believe most evo owner buy evo not because they are problem-free or whatever
its because they have that special passion on the car, they couldnt care less about small or big problem that u mention
but as i say
different ppl, different opinion
