Isn't raising the seat going to make it feel awkward for you to drive.

Most likely not. The seats sit pretty low to begin with. After I raised the back of the seat 1 inch, I still have plenty of head room and I'm 6 ft. tall.

One concern I have with changing the rake too much is that it seems the design of the bottom cushion of the seat and rake is to prevent the driver from submarining into the dash in case of an accident and if we change it too much, the belts won't be able to do as good a job in prevent the driver from sliding downward in an accident. Therefore, I think we should also look at raising the front to a certain degree.

I don't think there's any height adjusting rails on the market, just a higher bracket is available from HKS. But it costs $250 vs. the cost of just 4 spacers and bolts.

@ web9
That makes sense but I got it in my head that when your seated lower in the car it just feels "right" for a faster car. The faster I corner the safer/more control I feel when seated lower to the ground. I know its just in my head though.

Honestly, I want the seat lowered... but I really wish the steering wheel telescoped!

You know, the one problem that I have with the Evo X seats is that the seat is too low in the FRONT.

I could use about a 1/2-1" lift in the front section of the seat. My thighs don't touch the bottom of the seat when I'm driving.

Just reverse what I did then and use the spacers in the front.

Pics attached.

Hope that helps.
Thanks Web9 - I just did the spacer-mod for myself. Works like a champ.

The bolt measurements are 10mmx1.25.

Home Depot didn't have any metal spacers 1" long, so I also ended up going to Lowes and finding everything I needed.

Total Cost: $24

4 x bolts (Grade 8 quality - the bolt it replaces was Grade 7)
12 x washers
4 x locking-washer
4 x spacer

Be very cautious changing seat bolts. Unless you use the appropriate type of bolt, they could shear off and then your wife/gf etc becomes a projectile rather than a passenger. Modding the car as you have with bolts from a hardware store may save you a few bucks now but safety is not were you want to cut corners. I am sure there are numerous upholstery shops that could easily, and relatively inexpensively, put in a taller cushion. That would solve your problem and not put you or your gf at risk.
