This morning I test drove this Evo here:

Listed for over 28K. I made an offer of 25 until I test drove it. Something is wrong with car. Check engine light is on, it would not start at first and when normally shifting it jerked between 3rd and 4th gear (hard hard jerk as if I was running over a dead body) and it kept switching the mode from tarmac to snow.

Dealer did not even try to sell me the car. I think he knew that we both knew it was not worth what they wanted (which was 26).

On a bright side of things I got to sit in an evo, touch it and find out for my own what red evo really looks like up close.

There are a few other evos in the state so I keep on looking.

Wait wait wait wait wait... THEY WOULD NOT let you pay your state taxes there? What kind of monkey doodle is that?
Since when do you have to be registered in another state to make purchases in that state?

He is right, when you go to register the car in your state, you will pay the taxes there. When I was buying a truck a few months ago, I had to do the same, I couldn't pay the taxes until I got here. They offered to calculate what would be the taxes here and add it into the financing and then write me a check for that amount, which would be like paying the taxes there, but unless your registering the vehicle in the state in which you purchased it at, you can't pay the taxes until you register it in where your living and it will be driven.

I think that's a pretty decent deal, under 25K for car with new 19" rims (are they lightweight?) with new tires (19"'s run about $1300 just for the tires?) and only 8K miles and SSS.

Dude, off track, but why selling your CTS-V for an Evo? Was it the 2008 CTS-V or the earlier model? How does the Evo compare?

well Ive had 2 evo 9 SEs and loved them..after someone wrecked my last one I decided to try something different w sport and luxury...went with a 06 CTSV not the super charged one..I just hate it..the skip shift feature kills me and the wheel hop is insane on a stock car.its just not built to handle the power it has.. also it has about a 1 inch circumfrence of free play in every gear..meaning the stick mover around in a 1 inch circle in 1st gear..its just a sloppy gear box..not precise like im used to.also the rear end slides out too easily with any hard turn.It jus kills me I miss the Evo SOOOOO much!!! I miss it enough to lose 3k on selling it to carmax for 22k and I paid 25k for it. So I figure ill try a brand new Evo X..ive always wanted a new car..im 23 and its time! If any of yall have gotten rid of an Evo u prolly know how I feel..AWD is the BEST!!!

Hey please remember this lessen! I went through 17 cars on a long journey to balance sport and luxury and now I'm coming full circle and want a raw car again. After careful consideration of what I "need" in a car luxury wise, its heated seats. Very easy to add to a X or a IX for $500. Then they can bury me in the car
