How Much for a new Evo / Is this a good deal? *Sticky/Merge* (Includes EvoM vendors)
#4606
Alright, lining up a prospective deal with a local dealership.
2014 GSR (Recaro's Baby!) in Black
29,934 on it.
Don't know about Nav or audio; they just got it in Arkansas from auction and don't have the pics.
They want 29,995.
Im gonna try to put 4k down
Also try to drop them in price. would 26 be a fair offer, or would that be too low?
Also have my GTS to possibly trade in, but that would probably balance itself out as far as loan left vs trade in at dealer, so that wont be much
Thoughts?

I found a similar deal when I was looking, but I could get at 2015 GSR for 36k OTD at the Mistu dealership. Thought, might as well get an FE for a few thousand more. 39k OTD. So I would do some searching first.

I just bought a FE last Friday and the car itself was about 39800 OTD, I had to put some extra money down but that was my own fault being upside down on my trade-in...That price includes rear park assist, after market tints, black ralliart wheel locks, and window deflectors.
I talked with 4 or 5 different dealerships and then I found one willing to knock almost 2000 off the sticker within minutes of sitting down to talk about pricing. They also hooked me up with the added accessories at cost. Definitely shop around, most dealers and sales people think they have the golden ticket holy grail car but there's always a better deal if you do some legwork. One dealer had a red FE marked up to 45000, that **** pisses me off...

What's considered a good deal for the final edition? like $36k OTD? is that a good deal? ^^ I'm guessing around $32k for a base gsr OTD is considered a good deal as well? I'm hoping to make a purchase around july 4 to get some sort of independence day sale, since my current lease ends september 1

I'm looking at a 2015 MR currently- 1,500ish miles for $36,900. It has the touring package and is the color I was wanting. I'm going to be taking a look at this car in the next week or so and likely buying it if everything checks out.
What's everyone's opinion on this pricing? It seems decent enough to me. Would've preferred a 2014 but other than that it's everything I wanted in an Evo (MR, low miles, all options, color of choice).

Yep, seems to be right in line with KBB's dealer suggested retail price. I'm not sure what fully optioned MRs (minus nav) went for brand new but I can't imagine it was significantly under MSRP?
If the car checks out and I do purchase it I plan to have a compression/leak down test done and a mechanic look it over within my return period. Not taking any chances.
I can't imagine a car with such low mileage being in anything other than immaculate condition but you never know.

Leak down and compression test on a car with 1500 miles still covered by full warranty? I wouldn't be wasting my time with that, if something is amiss, Mitsu is going to be footing the bill.

^"Around" being the key word. Cheapest I've seen an MR with same options and color I want during my search has been $40.9k... which is already close to $3k less than MSRP. The dealer wasn't budging from that price.
I'm sure it's possible but those deals seem to be few and far between. Not worth the time and effort considering this car is essentially brand new. The $36,900 includes everything but sales tax.
Yeah... it does seem excessive for leakdown/compression on a car with such low miles.. especially in a car you can't mechanically over-rev. I think I will pass on that actually.

Yes it's miles are low, but that is in no way a "deal".

I don't think it's a great deal per say, but I do think it's a fair price all things considered.
Like I said, the dealers I've talked to within the last few months couldn't beat let alone come close to this price for a similarly optioned car.
I really am curious as to when and where people were getting 15 MRs for 5k less than MSRP. Doesn't seem like it was recently or in the northeast based on what I've heard back from dealers.
Regardless, I appreciate the input.

KBB is about the last place I would go for car values, they are always over priced, why do you think no dealer will ever give KBB trade in value when you are trading your car in?
KBB retail value is a good jumping off place to START negotiations, not a price that you should just walk in and pay.
Source - buying and selling a crap ton of cars over the past 15 years. Best of luck to you, I hope you can hold out a little and get a good deal.

If I could have gotten this car for 35k...... great. Would've been a very good deal IMO. But that's not the case and I don't feel it's worth the time and effort looking for a better deal to save 1-2K when I could be enjoying this one.
I haven't bought a car since 2007 and I can say with 100% certainty that I'm ready for the process to be over ASAP.
I will make sure to update what I ultimately decide after the test drive. Really looking forward to (hopefully) becoming an X owner soon.
