In the market for an X and Went and saw this car. It has a few mods and may have a tune by Ivey. dealer said lowest they can go is $27,900. I said I wouldn't pay more than 26,500 and walked out. Did I miss out on a good deal? Please let me know thanks.

You definitely did not "miss out" and were smart enough to not over pay for a 2 year old evo.

It already had an accident. They want too much for it.

There are actual brand new base evo's going for 31-32k with full warranty, why would you over pay for a 2014?

because the 2015 models suck? And I want the Recaros? How am I overpaying though? Show me a 2014 with 12,000 miles that is going for less than 30K. You got guys on this site selling fully modded cars with 5X the mileage that were likely beat to hell for well over $30K and yet 27,900 is considered overpaying?

I'm gonna have to agree with you. An accident could mean a fender bender or something that replaces major components.

I paid $30k for a 2year old X with 30k miles (SSS, Aero, Touring, stock), so having something with very low mileage, mods and tuned reputably for $28 isn't a bad deal at all. If you can tag it out the door for less than $30k, then I'd say get it.

If the car had a clean car fax then I would say go for it. But because it was involved in an accident it drastically reduces the cars value. Personally I would not buy a car that had accident damage reported. If the recaro's are the key factor for you then why not buy a new 2015 for $31k and buy a new set of recaro's? I believe they can be obtained aftermarket for about $2k for the pair.

Don't forget 'making an actual offer ready to sign tomorrow' as opposed to 'seeing how low they'll go' can be two different numbers.

I signed a piece of paper that said "$26,500 sign and drive today." The guy I was working with actually wrote it up for me. They wouldn't do it though. They said the lowest they'd go was 27,900 which I thought was still too high given the car's history.

Because it has been in an accident, that's why.
