Weights? We weigh everything we ever touch on cars we develop. And don't take my word for it - we have pictures:
Factory rear subwoofer = 16.4 pounds
GSR wheel and original tire = 48.2 pounds
Factory EVO MR 18x8.5" wheel and original 245mm Advan tire = 46.8 pounds
The first mod we added to our EVO X (made for 1.02g lateral grip)
Initial weighing of our EVO X MR. This is with a completely full tank of fuel and the spare + jack removed. The Subwoofer can be removed for -16.4 pounds, and another 76 pounds of fuel would be removed for autocross use, so that makes race weight about 3518 pounds in stock form.
We're building a new exhaust for the car tonight and will weigh each section and post here...
We're using .049" wall, 3" dia mandrel bends and light mufflers for this system.
I have more pictures of weights elsewhere - need to organize and upload them. The EVO X is a very heavy car (250+ pounds heavier than a current gen STI). Even the GSR is hefty, but the MR is especially massive. This big car needs to lose some pounds! We're going for every pound possible that allows us to stay in SCCA STU class and NASA TTB. Lightweight exhaust, battery, wheels, coilover suspension, race seats, and more are in store.
Cheers,

This is one of the better threads so far. Great post! If I wanted to get the X GSR closer to 50/50 weight distribtion, I would want to know what weight I could replace or remove from the front and leave the rear alone. Maybe add a rear strut brace (not sure of the weight thought) I believe the weight distribution to be around 56/44 or 55/45 front/rear.

We've weighed an EVO X GSR as well. We got our hands on one for a few days and partially took the it apart, took pics of the suspension, weighed a wheel, and corner weighed the car.
We know from experience that the EVO has a lot of "junk in the trunk", so we yanked the spare, jack, Subwoofer, and other stuff to get a "Race Weight". We also took into account the fuel load - 14 gallons, so knock another 86 pounds off of the final 3525 pounds for 3439 pound total weight, in stock form, at race weight.
This weight is with the trunk crap removed. Take the fuel weight out of this and its 3439.
That's going to be tough without adding a ton of ballast in the back - and adding weight rarely makes a race car faster. The transverse engine and transaxle make up most of the front mass on the typical 57/43% to 60/40% front biased AWD cars. When you start putting these cars on a diet the front bias gets worse as the weight goes down. It is what it is... and on an AWD car you just have to live with it.
That's a good question. On the EVO 9, a similar "SSL" (sunroof and stuff) package on a GSR was 67 pound bump from the base GSR. We did an extensive write-up on EVO 9 weights after weighing a ton of cars in 2006 in this article: http://www.vorshlag.com/tech_evoweights.php

Stock Panasonic Battery - 35 lb (Deka battery - 15 lb)
Stock CBE - 43.5 lb (Perrin CBE - 27.4 lb)
Stock Cat Pipe - 16.5 lb (AMS HFC 8.5 lb)
I've reduced the weight of my GSR by 44 lb just by replacing these three parts.

Hey guys. Please only post if you have the weight of a car part. I don't want this thread to get cluttered with "great idea" or "what's the weight of this?" posts. Let's keep it clean and usable. Thanks!

Great list.
Seibon
dry carbon hood = 13.4 lbs.
dry carbon trunk = 10 lbs.
I thought there would be more of difference between Seibon dry carbon vs. OEM hood. I guess not or 6lbs. Where as the trunk it's 13lbs.

I will post some weight as I removing as much as I can.
But can someone tell me how to remove the back seat.
are the three bolt you can see from the trunk after you remove the battery and the washer tank on each side where you need to start.
I cannot see anything else.

^According to Peter Tarach of Modified Magazine, the driver's seat is 42 pounds and the passenget seat is 48 pounds! http://www.modified.com/projectcars/...evo/index.html We are talking 90 pounds here just for the seats.
