Wingless plugs

Thinking of going wingless.

Where can you get the plugs for the holes in the trunk? Are they waterproof?

Go to a local body shop and see what they would recommend/charge you to fill the holes and paint the plugs. Or go to the local Home Depot and buy some rubber plugs for a cheaper DIY route.

+1

Lowes also has plugs that might work in their hardware section, if you're going to DIY I'd try there first.

I was looking for plugs today at Home Depot, and I could not find anything. The holes appear to be 1/4 inch, no luck so far. For now I just have some plastic plugs that I forced in place. They aren't waterproof, but it is only temporary until I find something better. Either way water will not find it's way into the trunk. With the smaller of the two spoilers the holes were put above the rain gutter, so the weatherstripping in the trunk will still keep water out.

i figured it would be the same as the evo viii/ix where the trunk is designed for water not to get in there if the holes are left unplugged. It just looks nicer to have the holes plugged. What kind of plugs did you buy?

$25 may be a little high, but they look pretty good:

Of course, I think you need 6 plugs, so that's $75. They may not look that good.

You can get the holes filled for about $2-300 at a body shop.

Got the Home Depot plugs. They are white and I painted them. For the larger holes, the size is 5/16". I haven't gotten anything yet for the smaller threaded hole.

There is a rectangular plastic cover with a hole at the center hole. I haven't been able to get this off. Anyone have any trick to this?

BTW the Home Depot plugs are in the screw/bolt section in the little drawers about half way down the aisle. I assume most Home Depot's would have them roughly in the same place.

I had a GG IX and went to a local vinyl sign place. they had matching vinyl that I cut into circles and covered the holes. it looked better than the plugs i tried. I think i still have the vinyl if any1 wants it and can pick it up in rockford illinois.

Does anyone actually know the CORRECT size plugs for BOTH small and big holes in the trunk?

I think this is the best solution, I would get a few sets made so that I could replace when not looking so good.

I'd like to know of a good non-ghetto way to fill my holes up....other than the body shop option. I don't have the money for that right now.

The body shop is really the only "non" ghetto way.
