Evo X Stalls on Start
#16
when I first bought the evo x,
it happened maybe a total of 2 or 3 times.
really annoying actually.
then a new flash came out but didnt get it, then another new flash came out and
I got that one.
fixed the rpm problem and I dont think it happened since, might have once or something.
everytime it does the rpm goes up as usual then completely drops and car shuts off,
got paranoid so now everytime i start the car i keep the rpm up just a little with my foot haha.
and I finally figured out why my ignition locks even if i have the frigin key with me!
maybe some of you know or might not , just pull your steering wheel to the left and unlock it.
took me forever to figure it out hahaha.

Hey everyone,
I have a problem and wanted to see if anyone here has had a similar problem. The other day I went to start my X for work it fired up first time in the freezing cold. I get to work and around 5 hours later I go to leave for lunch and try to start my X dies out. I try it again and it barley started like if it wasnt getting any fuel. It sputtered around 100rpm till it finally got up to 1500 rpm (it was very cold out). I went to lunch parked the car and when I left lunch it started fine but when it was time for me to go home it did the same thing.
I have the latest ECU flash. And drive a stock MR with 3400 miles on it. The dealer cant replicate it of course and now its seems fine.
Any suggestions.
PS this has happened once before when it died out and I had to restart it but not this bad were it takes a good 15-20 seconds to start when cranking the engine.

Edit: I also have an MR
... my car hasn't had any cold starting issues since & I've left my car out in sub 20 degree weather for several hours.

i have this issue every now and then as well. I thought it was from leaving my lights on and somehow that discharged my battery, but if I crank it for a while it usually turns over. I always consider taking it in but then the problem disappears. If anyone finds out anything new please post it... I will try that relearn thing posted above.

I'm telling you guys... it's a good chance that It's the battery. I've heard of several people having battery issues & the service guys told me they had to replace a few themselves.

It has happened to me a total of 3 times where it takes a couple tries of cranking the car before it starts. First time it was under 1K miles a couple months ago and the car was bonestock with the oem Panasonic battery. Then it happened again last night after sitting at the parking lot at work for 4 hours and then this morning again after the car was sitting in the garage. Temps are a little above freezing and the car now has around 2800miles, new battery and a Perrin stage 1 map.
kidneythief13 - If it were the battery, the car wouldn't crank and start up at all. That is a different problem the dealerships already are aware of. I had that problem where the oem Panasonic battery just went dead after a couple hundred miles. It got replaced with an Optima red top under warranty. However, this starting issue is something completely different.

I got 8, also live in Chicago, when i get out of work or on lunch time it starts it wont die but you can feel the engine is very cold, i say its normal for turbo cars. Just make sure you wait 2min before you start driving and dont rev it.

ya my MR has the same problem. It is def too much fuel. I am getting a tune soon, so we will see then if it fixes the problem. Oh and it happens lots to me, at -30C it happens maybe twice or three times a week.
