Has anyone else owned an Evo X and sold/traded it already? Any regret?

I still have my X and do think about dropping it from the roster from time to time, but it has its pluses.
The shifter works real well after the oil warms up (I let my brother use it for 1000 miles and all of a sudden, it's like broke in??!)
no citrus aftertaste- never had to go back to the dealer since the 2nd reflash.
I feel confident driving it and it is low key and LE don't pay it too much attention. It also doesn't make people at work think you make too much money.
Having a new C6 to pay for along with the evo is a chore, but the vette is 3-4 weeks out from being paid for so all I'll have to do is keep up the one payment and see if I can survive without a truck for the next year. Gonna track it real soon to to compare it to my rear wheel drive experience at Spring Mtn.

Well I went home for mid tour from Iraq and bought me the X left it with about 500 miles on it and really didn't notice no problems other than some notchyness every now and then. Reading all this scares the hell out of me cause this is my first Evo and I would like to keep for a long time. I hope I don't have to get rid of it cause quality. This sucks.

The X is awesome - it sounds like for some of the more experienced guys are looking for more out of it but for me its a dream car. I run out of my house in the morning to drive it and look forward to driving it home all day at work lol and i've had the car for a month!
I may miss my vert in the summer but i'm having a great time with it....no one really has any fancy cars in my area so it's nice. i just have to build an extra 15 minutes into my trips to the gas station b/c everyone comes up to me and wants to check it out

Wow. I can honestly say, even with the warts, there isn't a car on the market right now that I would trade my X for.
And I've driven all the ones mentioned in this thread (e92 m3, m6, IX, VIII, C6, porsche 911, etc.).
For the price, utility, safety and performance there is no equal IMO.
Now would I be displeased if the notchy transmission (only when cold/shifted at low speeds/rpms), crappy clutch, glovebox rattle, ****ty tune and weird seat ergonomics (which I have fixed, noone move my seat!!!) were fixed? No... but they aren't enough to make me want to get rid of the car!

The grass is always greener on the other side. I think you have commitment issues.
The only regret I have was not buying the EVO X first. I had to go through 16k miles of an 08 STI before I made the "right" decision.
I feel the same way you do about the SAYC, and one of the big problems with the 08 STI was understeer. I've never driven a car with such agility around corners as the X. The notchy transmission really gets to me, but it's not a mustang. I really don't see the need for super-fast gear changing, and the notchiness is easily handled with careful shifting.
Which car has, overall, been more fun? The 135i or the EVO X? I was looking at 135i's for a bit, but the RWD turned me off.

Noise , I like your 5-5 point of your comments on the X;
Let me paste it here.
"4)Use. Evos are unabashed racecars. As time went on, it became really obvious to me that the only racing I do is on the internet. Four autocrosses, one track day, and a good amount of drag racing at Beech Bend don’t require an unabashed racecar. I still love tuning and sporty cars, but having something that is comfortable for normal driving while having a respectable degree of performance is what is the most important to me.
5)Perception. This car was attracted one kind of person since I bought it: Sixteen – Twenty year old kids that were interested in street racing. I had no end to people revving on me, challenging me, asking me how fast it was, police attention, etc. I got really tired of being accosted by ricers when I was taking my family to Target."
I think this is a real fair comment. I like it a lot and many peole need to realize this before they even go for test drive in the X.
Should be on the windshild as a warning . !
Your other points there , i'm not really with you on them, but anyway. Those are your opinions so respect them.

What is really amaze me, there is ONLY ONE region is got the Transmission plauge... and that is the North America... Wonder why?
I drove many evo's but the X MT is just as good , and for me the best they ever offered. Keeps the turbo spoolin' and you really cant complain about put it into gears. Just awesome click's in to it, just as it should , nice manly way
The Evo , never been made for cruisin'...
So there is major miss understanding about Evo's since they exist here in the US. And that is sadly more then 5 years now...
This is a rally car, not GT or LM. Just remember that.
Mitsubishi will and i hope they dont even consider to change that.
You guys moaning about how the X is not raw etc.../not you Noize/ And the mean time nothing else is a problem just being raw and harsh., besides the humangus weight gain... What a topic. Oh boy.
All i can say is, there is a reason why this is coming form the US:
"The neighbors grass, is always greener"

I've owned about 6 mitsu's so far and 5 have been evos including 1 evo X. I recently sold the X and it was the best thing I've done so far. I loved the look of the car, and it was pretty fast but I just hate the problems you have with mitsu's. My fast key failed 3 times in 7 months. I hate having a car that the dealers are So unprofessional and are bias against you. Its like the service dept hates you as soon as you buy the car. Everyone who works for mitsu dealers around here are SUPER cocky and assuming as well. On top of that, after already having a fully built evo 9, I just dont want to go down that road again. I dont want to be under my hood twice a week, etc... My next tuner car will be a C6 Z06.
For someone looking to buy a 30k-35k car and mod it, i'd suggest a C6 regular vette, 03/04 cobra, or Sti. I know the STi is the direct competitor to the evo and it always loses mod for mod, but the reliability is way better and the drivetrains are bullet proof. And they seem to just be a better built car.
Flame suit on!!

Yes. I have tried the stealership where I bought the car and one just down the road and neither will help me in any way, shape or form. I never have to take my VIIIs to the stealership for anything major so this lack of professionalism is new to me.
