Bad way to start my new year

So i just had my car tuned and I'm still not used to the 90 whp gain and I got my first ticket in my X.

Doin 49 in a 30 and i wasn't even that on it..... I didnt even feel like I was going almost 50 but since i got my tune yesterday its mid and high range acceleration really sneaks up on you.

Guess I'll have to deal with the insurance increase

BTW does anyone know how much rates usually raise for a speeding ticket???

well that sucks, hopefully you can take driving school and get the points off.

and this car does make it hard to know what speed you are going, even going 90 or so on the highway looks like your only going like 50 lol

with the mods you have to the car you got luky with just a speeding ticket lol. either that or Oregon is really lax on vehicle mods. :P As far as insurance rates changing, it depends on your insurance company, your age, your driving history, your state, the ambient temp, position of saturn vs position of Mercury.

what im tryin to say is you wont know till you get the bill :P

DEF call the courthouse or look up if they allow driving school. My brother just took driving school in vegas for a ticket he got in AZ. We called first and they said they would accept the driving school from Nevada. Do some quick homework before its too late.

defensive driving school is your friend. I would call and see if you can do that instead. If you have a decent driving record they might cut you a break. Good luck with it.

You don't even need driving school. Go to your court date. I get all my speeding tickets dropped to 0 points either because I go to court or the cop honors my family member card.

Try one of those ticket lawyers. They work for me. My new year start sucked too, my gas tank overflowed @ the pump on my way home from work. :-(

Exactly. Fight it, even if you lose. The judge will at least lower the fine/amount on that ticket. Its too bad your not eligable for traffic school though..

Like other posters said defensive driving class is a good way to lower your insurance after you take the hit.

It's tough not to speed in the X.

Hire a lawyer, they'll get that knocked down for sure. Atleast to something that won't bring up your insurance.

that's not always the case. might end up paying more at the end.

also, you can call your insurance company to get more info. one day i was just curious and called USAA when i had them. they told me 5% increase for moving violations and 20% for accidents.

i would just pay the ticket and goto driving class to aviod the points. dunno how it is across the nation, but in Florida you're allowed 1 a year (something like that)
