Does anyone know what changes will be made for the 2010? I am actively pursuing an evo X, but after hearing that imporvements will be made to the 2010 I might wait. Does anyone know what the mods will be (visual, engine, wheels)?
I hope its not the exact same powerplant remapped. Who cares if there is added power if I was going to buy an AP anyways. Now if there is going to be a change in power due to an engine enhancement (unlikely) I will wait. It just means more reliable power.

I'm hoping that they add some kind of direct injection and tweak the turbo like they did with the IX vs VIII. Should boost both base power and economy. Replacing some parts made from lighter materials would also be real nice. I'm also wishing for the availability of an RS version

Doubt there will be much, and probably nothing real worthwhile. They really only change things when going up a model #.
I highly doubt the 2010 will be a XI. It will still be a X...

I hope they don't change too much with the powerplant, it would turn the usdm x into the redheaded step child of evo's. Vendors would stop making parts, people will stop modding, stock markets will crash, etc.

i think they will give it a slight Hp boost (310-315) for obvious reasons to keep up with subi if they do the same. maybe a boost gauge stock and a couple of dash changes and maybe a slightly diff rear of some sort like a face lift or so nothing drastic

I'm not convinced yet that direct injection is a super large boost to the overall power profile of a gasoline motor. In the diesel world, its made a world of difference, however diesel fuel is must more stable at the pressures and temperatures in and near the injector.
Current F1ish technology has actually leaned towards pulling the injector even further from the head in a "shower" type configuration.
If there were a compromise, I'd think about direct injection for temperature control, and low speed performance, and a secondary injector set for high speed / power generation / ease of upgrade - maint.

I know that the x's are going at great rates right now and are affordable , but i dont want any regrets for being impatient if anything good comes with the 2010 model year...We're in the same boat.

I think we could use a press release. If the changes are drastic enough, which they won't be, but if they were, I am thinking it could drop the price of the 08 X quite a bit. It might actaully be more enticing to by the 08 at that point. Haha

Yeah, I highly doubt they are going to drop or change the 4b11t in any drastic way. Personally I think it's a good powerplant with a lot of potential that hasnt been realized yet. Plus, when car companies do that, it pisses thier customers off, screws up the aftermarket mods/companies, and hurts the sales of their still unsold 08 models. If they do have major changes planned, they probably wont tell us until the 08s are off the lots.
Im sure one realistic thing we can expect is better stock ecu mapping in the 2010's, but that's noting a reflash/tune cant fix in the current models anyways.

Why wait until 2010 when you can have fun now?

Cuz we're not waiting until 2010. We're waiting until July/August of this year (2009) when the 2010 Evo X will be available. Mitsubishi is letting the Evo X model year catch up with the rest of their 2010 line-up.
I will be waiting until they announce the changes as well, and probably end up going with the 2010 unless they're REALLY trying to get rid of the 2008's. At this moment I don't think they're REALLY trying, they're just kinda trying
