Any word on reliability/issues being fixed on the 2010 EVO X?

Hi guys, I wanna jump into a 2010 evo x, but have been hesitant with all the quality issues I've been hearing with the 2008 model. I know the 2010's just hit dealers, but I was wondering if any new owners could chime in with details or if anyone knows if any fixes have been done for the new year. I know the paint sucks as usual, I use to own an 04 STi and miss the awd turbo. The tune would also be taken care of with an AP and downpipe anyways. I just don't want my side skirts falling off, gas pedal breaking in half or my hand brake cover coming off on me. This car will be a dd, so the less issues the better.

Why not just keep the M3? That's what I would do! If you liked the old STi, why not look at the new one? I have had 0 problems with my '08 STi, and neither have any of the folks that I know that have em.

The issues you listed; gas pedal breaking in half, hand brake coming off, etc, have happened to an INCREDIBLY few people. They just get a massive amount of attention because:

A) They're hilarious.
and
B) We enjoy *****ing.

^ +1, Plus, as many have said before, it's the bad things you hear about more than the good things. Like the 09 WRX's motors blowing up! Haha.

If people posted up daily to inform you "hey, my Evo has no problems" that'd be a bit ridiculous. Compare the number of people who have them, versus the number who have problems. The only widespread problem is the crappy factory tune, and that's easily fixed.

You guys are definitely right and I agree it's a few people, but for some reason I guess I'm hearing tons more issues with the X than the previous evo's. I have been hearing that the trans is also notchy as hell, even after a few thousand miles. I think I just need to man up and go buy it next week. I want to keep my M3 as a garage queen, since I only take it out on weekends and other occasions. I need an awd car for the winters and don't want to put up with the M3 in the snow here in IL.

The thing has yet to grow on me as a wagon and I also heard the handling is definitely not there anymore, well as compared to previous STi's. It does sound way better than an evo though and interior is a tad nicer, but that is my opinion. It's sure as hell sexy in red though!

The VIII tranny was notchy, my motor failed with 3k miles on it due to oil starvation (before the first oil change even), my TC failed for no apparent reason.

The only thing that goes bad commonly is the clutch.

If you don't like the wagon looks, there's nothing that can be done there, I love wagons, so that sealed the deal. It handles well enough. I didn't drive the old STis much, but I can say it handles at least within 1% as good as my Evo VIII did stock. Just drives different is all.
