I always test drive them first. Specially if your gonna be spending +30k on a vehicle!

Didn't test drive one. I knew I would love the car and wasn't worried. Now I did follow the car closely since it was a concept and waited until last Sept. to buy it. If I had to do it over again I would wait for 2010 model. I love the car but with factory installed mud flaps I still have several hundred chips on both sides of the car. The clutch is slipping and since I am over the 12k mile warrenty on the clutch I have to eat that as well. The dealer is replacing the seat since the staples are not holding and haven't since the 3rd week of owning the car. So with that being said I would seriously think about waiting and hope Mitsu makes a few changes to correct these issues.

Back in the day when I was driving my Mustang and the LS1-powered Camaros and Trans Ams were the new hot item, I was sure I wanted one. Sat around drooling on web boards and whatnot for months. Finally went to a dealer to talk about buying and test drove one. All of 5 minutes later I thought it was a piece of crap and knew I could never own one.
Lesson learned: Always drive it first. What you imagine is almost never reality.

If you are worried about getting caught up in the heat of the moment after test driving it, simply go to the dealer with the absolute rule that you are not buying anything that day. Test drive it, shoot your load or whatever, go home, sleep, and come back the next day to negotiate. And bring a trusted (read: financially responsible) friend or family member to help rein you in if you really need it.

I test drove mine. Even after reading magazine reviews it was still different than I thought it would be. Coming from a 350Z I was amazed at how much mid range the Evo had and a little disappointed in the top end power. Shifter feel was also a notchy in comparison. But overall I liked the car so I purchased it. If your going to spend $30k on a car I would recommend a test drive.

Test drive MADE me buy this car. I had no intentions whatsoever in purchasing the X. Don Herring Jr over at Don Herring in Irving insisted we go test drive their demo X. I was like sure, why not?

That test drive made me call over the next day to get the paperwork started. Before that I was on the fence on getting a IX.

Couldn't test drive a MR, but Sam took me round in the GSR

I was pretty positive about getting it and already knew how it would ride, didn't test the MR peddles tho.

After getting new coils, it rides even better

I'm still hoping for a test drive/ride in an MR some day, but as far as my GSR goes, they forced me to test drive it..it was kind of opposite of the typical dealership sales game. it did, however, lead to a sale.

Walked in and came home in a brand new Evo X. Did not bother to test drive it because I've been in one already.

Plus it's a Evo. I knew that it would be fast or fast enough.

Yup...same here, I had a friend of mine who owned an 8 when they first dropped -- he was impressed, so I said let's do it!
