My car already had the most up-to-date reflash when I purchased it so I never suffered the uber-richness that others had to deal with.

I was able to average 24mpg for one tank of gas when I was bone stock, which I thought was pretty decent! It was almost entirely freeway driving of course, but still decent.

Thing is, even if you were to "adjust" the closed loop cruise area of the fuel and timing maps... you are still in closed loop and will be targeting 14.7:1 afr, so I really don't see how you will get any increase in mpg during closed loop driving from just a tune. Unless you force the car into open loop for cruise and dial back the fuel. Maybe some ve improvement by playing with the mivec i guess but generally I don't think you will notice any change unless you change your driving habits..

Now adding hard parts like exhaust and ic pipes that improve the VE of the engine will (or can) result in an improvement in mpg.

You will always get better gas mileage with the car in closed loop. Always.

I also have the Cobb stage 1 map on my car.

I used to get about 190-200 miles every tank fill up. Usually 13 gallons i would need to fill up. Since i got the cobb tune i get about 230-240 miles out of 13 gallons.

At first I was getting 15mpg city on my car... then 16 and so on. Mixed city and untuned ( for a short time) I get around 19.5-21 which means staying out of boost 95 % of the time. I had a 240sx with an sr20 a few years back... staying out of boost I was getting 25 city.
