EVO X FQ-400: USA vs UK

The Brit's, through Mitsu, now have, for 09, bumped up the FQ 360 to the FQ 400. The latter has 403 bhp (crank) with suspension upgrades and sells for 49,999 british pounds or $82,203.66. Now I think the cost of a vehicle in Britian vs here is ~25-30% more (due to volume sales and other factors); so we are talking somewhere around $57.5-$61.6K equivalency. Now if one takes the base GSR in the US with suspension, basic bolt ons (CAI, TBE) and tune we are talking about ~$41K. This means you can obtain the same performance EVO X in the US for between $16.5-$20.6K less. My point, you ask? Our aftermarket vendors are ten's of thousands dollar less than the aquisition of same through a dealership in Great Britain although they have a warranty for the FQ's. That said, the USA is still a steal when it comes to enhansing the performance window of ur car.

Later, Ken

Sorry I dont have that point. you forgot.....all the bumpers...rims....interior....wings......****ING BIG BRAKES...BIGGER TURBO....lights and everything that we do not know.

that fq-400 is a steal....almost forget.......those tyres.and the clutch and everything that goes for the transmission.

at 403bhp the fq-400 is running rich like or stock evo x......you at 400hp youll be lean. so if you lean out the fq400 youll be getting something like 500hp or maybe more.

if you only want to have the power....yah for sure the fq400 is expensive...but theres a reason for the price. dont just think about performance.

even if you have an honda **** and you putt 4 turbo in it.....youll never be an EVO X.

an EVOX with 800hp will never be a ferrari. so an EVO X will never be an FQ-400.

the FQ400 is not just 400+hp, it is "the" FQ400! AFAIK, most modded evo VIII-X are running just that >400 hp yet they are not the FQ400. I'm sure if they bring it here even with the hefty price tag somebody will buy it

An evo x gsr here in canada is 44000$...you dont have the sss package. so I just calculated how much would it cost to me to get to an fq400....it would cost me around 20k-25k maybe more to have the exact same car.

44000$ + 25000$= 69000$

the fq400 is 49000 euro= exactly the same price 69000$ because here in canada euros are 1,5 times more.

so its a great deal that car. and you get a WARRANTY. WOW such a great car.

it's reliable, warranted power; I wish they could bring the FQ-400 here, and I wish I could buy one; This is what one wants, that's why one buys a GSR and mods the crap out of it, so it can have 360 horses to the wheels / 400 to the crank.... Don't compare the FQ-400 to what we do here lol

Im pretty sure clutch and tranny are the same. The fq-400 is already tuned by hks so your wrong about getting 500 hp out of a tune.

An fq400 is just an upgraded base gsr so how will an evo x never be like an fq-400?

If you were to modify the gsr yourself even with the bbk, suspension, bigger turbo, better clutch, tune, and exterior mods it would still be thousands of dollars less than the fq-400. The reason the fq400 is so expensive is because of the "fq" name and the warranty.

Our aftermarket is a lot better than HKS parts. The FQ is not even close to worth it. You can get a reliable car built by any one of our top shops for 10s of thousands less and would blow that 400hp car away in a strait line and the twisties.
I've always thought the FQ was way overrated. You would have to be an idiot to pay that much for a mitsu, especially with only 400hp.

I agree with this.
For sure, like other are saying, you pay also some "extra" money for FQ name and warranty; but the FQ-400 is not simply an EVO X with some more power... And for sure you cannot have "almost the same car" spending 10k USD tuning a standard EVO X...
About clutch (and other parts too) I think it's impossible the clutch is the same as in standard EVO X: it will last very few miles

Then it' also true that you can get a good job from a good tuner, spending less money: but remember that we are not talking about performance only.

so what else is an fq400 besides a modified gsr that any tuner could accomplish? If we are not talking performance only, what are we talking about? The body kit?

I know for a fact the transmission is the same and I know for a fact the fq400 doesnt have a race clutch and either way upgrading a clutch is not that expensive. The only reason I would ever buy an fq400 is to say I have a rare limited addition car.
