I worked at a Mitsu dealer too, and when Mitsu decided they wanted to push the Outlander to the top of the IQS survey for 2004 I think it was they sent the dealers a "guide" on how to help them. Nothing about how the vehicle was built was changed at all They just told us to concentrate on showing people how to use one or two quirky features (not really quirky just something people constantly complained about not knowing how to use) and a couple of other little things, and yeah, that year the Outlander was as "good" as the RAV 4 or CR-V.
Cliffs: JD Powers IQS survey has little to do with how good a vehicle actually is, but how good the dealer is at making the delivery process as smooth as possible. Mitsu actually does pretty good when you look at surveys of cars 5 years old or so.

They won't haven't you heard? You should have bought a Honda. Nothing ever goes wrong with them. I used to work at one of their dealership. We didn't even have service department.
But seriously. It could be covered. You've got roadside assistence, at least I do, maybe they cut that back for new Evos. They'll tow it to the nearest dealer and replace the battery.
You probably bought a left over '08 that's been sitting around for 6 months or more like evolvedx's car did. Its called lot rot and it could happen to any car, especially one that came with a bum battery that's being recalled in the first place. The dealer is responsible, but maybe Mitsu will cover it.

same thing happened to me man...got the car home and the next day the battery was dead. The car was sitting on the lot for so long the battery just died...they pushed another evo over and took the battery out of it to replace mine and died the next day as well. So I jumped it got it to the dealer and they got a brand new one for me and hasn't died since.

The day after I bought mine my battery was dead too but it was that way because the night before I forgot to turn the car all the way off(the remote keyless system was a little confusing) after driving it into the garage so the radio played all night and I had to get a jump start in the morning. Made it to work just in time, lol.
